WHO created me in his own image ?

« on: January 12, 2012, 05:11:00 PM »

Driving down a road today that I rarely use and they have some of those "SLOW DOWN" signs up; it flashed on and when I looked, sure enough I was doing about 35 Roll Eyes

The thing that unnerved me was that it was also flashing up my registration number Shocked

I haven't seen one of those before !!

First time I've heard of that. All the ones here just flash the speed.

I suppose the next step after adding the reg number is to add a camera. Oh! I forgot SAFETY camera!. I only know one place where you can say its a safety camera at a black spot.

Does anybody remember wheh they used to put signs up at genuine black spots for accidents? People slowed down as they new there was a higher risk and they didn't put them everywhere and behind trees. I suppose people would just ignore it now but it worked well at the time. Worth a try now?

Known that the reason injuries and deaths are declining on the roads is nothing to do with safety cameras, its because there is so much traffic on the road, the speeds are slower and hence the impact speeds are slower and the car safety systems work.

Safety geeks have their place but not when giving out false onfo.

I remember the accident black spot signs. Haven't seen one for years now.

If I start on the safety geeks, I won't stop, so I'll keep me trap shut.

I suppose the next step after adding the reg number is to add a camera.

They obviously already have a camera with numberplate recognition software and speed detecting radar; all that is needed is an electronic feed back to a central point which generates automatic fines and the Government has another nice little earner.

It may not be legal at present though Sad

They do have them in vans and cop cars, but not the signs that ypu mentioned. They're the vans that park at the side of the road and 'clock' each and every vehicle that goes past. The cameras are also fitted in the cop cars, ANPR ones, that the cops use. Seen them on tv.

Spiffing idea. Hang on, we'll get penalised with a pavement tax.
