Having finally found the high spec auto estate I have been looking for, the 2.0 club manual estate I have is for sale.

Members may remember about a year back, me listing the service history which is too long to list again but I will with photos later. Lets just say the service bills etc are an inch thick and as the one user/owner before me was getting on in age, over the last few years he had a full service and brake fluid change every year, like every other year, even though he only did a few miles! Needless to say mechanically it is just A1. It is solid all round including the usual 4 sidemember rust points and the rear wheel arches but just a couple of small dents(paint good) and the usual scuffs. The interior is A1 and even has the original radio. When I first got it the engine compartment had tectyl all over it so I think it was tectyled from new. This car needs to go into good hands. TC members only apply................£795. Too good to ebay.

I bought this as a stand in until I found my auto.

It does need a water pump soon but is completely driveable. I have all year. Its had a water pump in the past which I understand has probably got a plastic impellor which is spinning on the shaft. Its a very rare failure which carlton mad came up with as a solution. Makes the occasional noise.

I will post photos etc after next weekend, but if anybody wants info pdq, please pm me or call 01634 682596 (Medway, Kent) Keith.

It was at last summer's 'big meet' where you can see some photos on the thread. Reg no. L954...

It was MOT'd on 10th October (just one advisory, front tyre deteriorated) and has done just a few miles since as I went into hospital for a major op on 1st Nov. and its still in the garage whilst I'm recovering.

More info after next weekend.

Glad you've found the one you want.

Thanks Kevin. I see from another post you want a CDX auto. I never found one which was the spec I wanted after a long search, so good luck and if I hear of any I'll let you know. Good ones are very difficult to find now and people are holding on to them.

Its the 3.0 12v estate auto I'm after Keith. Ideally, I need to sell my GLi estate first, as I can only keepp one car at a time.

Not sure if I'm doing the right thing selling the club. They dont often come with one owner from new with full documented history. Just touch the key and it starts. If it doesn't sell I'll just keep it but it bungs up the garage. Got another garage rented out so perhaps I'll reclaim it. This is what happened when I bought the club and still had the 2.6 CDX estate which I had to let go cheap especially as I was going into hospital. I think Murph still has it for sale?

Should I run 2 carltons? Not sure what wifee would say!

Weather looks good at the weekend for photos of the club for sale and the new arrival high spec auto estate post...............

I do indeed still have it and will be selling her on soon now that all the running problems have been ironed out.

She's due MOT next month so I'll put her up for sale then.

Here are the photos. First two are at the big meet, the rest after dusting off out of the garage. My phone 01634 682596.

The service history is massive with bills for everything. I am just listing the service mileage. In the last few years it was serviced regardless of mileage every year.
9/18/27/36/45/53/63/71/80/87/96/103/109/110/112/113/114/114 again/115. Also the brake fluid every year!

Its one previous old boy owner, first two years as a company car. I've had it about a year as every day transport.

Now the bad news, but not much:-
Needs a water pump before the summer. Impellor turning on shaft. But completely driveable. Can be left but occasionally throws 1/2 pint of water out. Head gasket fine with good compressions.
Small shallow dent in n/s rear door. Paint perfect. Dent guys can get out easily. probably wouldn't notice it.
Rear o/s quarter a crease with front bit scored paint. Not deep.
Had a new rr o/s skin which rusted thru badly. Murph fitted another door and he has the original glass with reg no. on glass. Usual minor scuffs.

Good news:-
Had ALL the important things done - cambelts at 36/70/110k miles. Now at circa 116k.
Solid. Usual sidemember rust points fully oiled.

All I can add is that its a nice reliable car thats solid. Just get in it and drive away. Carlton mad has been under it and says its solid.

Going on VODC and ABS sites as doesn't seem to be any interest at the moment. There cannot be many very solid estates around now that have been looked after and are reliable.

Looks like a very very nice manual. I would have been very tempted last July !!!. But I best stick with the devil I already know. Good luck selling it although I guess you are happy enough with your new acquisition.

Although quiet a lot of interest on the vauxhall clubs sites, nothing firm so going on ebay next week. Last chance. Dont really want it to go to a hacker but need the garage.

Somebody does want it to change into a Lotus Carlton replica!

Too right. Good ones should be kept standard but if nobody in the clubs is interested it will end up in the hands of a hacker who will run it into the ground. Cash is very tight at the moment for people so no real surprise it has not sold. The first to see will buy.

When the Carlton/Senators become true classics when they become rare, originality is held in high esteem by the classic 'buffs'. Lotus carltons have already become classics because of their rareity and you dont see modified versions of them. Very frowned on.

thats because they are already modified!!lol

regarding the club though a healthy reserve will put off the modders (and if it dosent then you can rest easy knowing it will probably be done to a high standard by someone who cares)

I dont want to ebay it and I think on reflection I will not ebay it until I really have to. It needs to go to a good home because of all the history. I want to get the Diamond in the garage to start work on cleaning the unerside and surface rust killing etc.

I've even considered keeping it and selling the modern but that the wifes car! So thats out. Or, club stays in the garage and the Diamond on the drive. Cars are sometimes better outside where they can dry out. The most rusty cars are those garaged and put away wet.

ps Chris - Diamond black box photos to follow on the Show offs site. haven't forgotten.

Please come and buy me. My man has just put me outside as he's found somebody else called Diamond. He spends his time with Diamond now. I've 92 coats of polish so I'm well protected but its cold out here and its raining. He does look after me though cos he starts me and heats me up but its a bit chilly around the nether regions. Its going to get cold next week! He says he will put me back in the garage if I behave. He hasn't taken me out for ages.

He says if nobody comes for me soon he will let somebody called Mr Ebay have me and I dont want to be abused. I'm reliable & with tender care will last forever. My bottom's very clean and I dont need any skin massaging.

I've even had some new boots and a complete wind tube a while back with less than 2k miles.

Sob.............

Now £695. Seem to be lots of comments on other websites about the water pump, so £100 off that pays for it to be done! Cannot do it myself at the moment due to a recent op. Just drive it anywhere and get it done at your leisure. Head gasket and compressions perfect.

Fed up with negative comments on other websites. Non on TC who appreciate Carltons. Also had a guy (not TC) who wanted me to tax it and he would come and get it and pay me then for the tax. Not falling for that one. I tax it, he then bids me right down, walks away, and I'm left £210 out of pocket! Nice try.

Why oh why couldn't this have been an auto and for sale this time last year?

There's always the dickheads who want a car for nothing. I wish more people would appreciate the Carltons.

Agreed, Auto would have got me interested (even though I promised myself I couldn't afford to run another one), like the guy he spoke to, I would also like it to be taxed, only ever bought an untaxed car once - Jesus, the grief it caused me, never again.

Good luck with the sale though...

You probrably know it already Keith but its a bad time of year to sell in what is pretty much a buyers market at the moment.  Youve either got to hold out for the money (if you have time and space) or take a hit and get rid, move on Undecided

Cant see what the issue is with it being untaxed, if you wanted it you'd have to arrange insurance anyway and when you came to collect just go down the nearest post office and get tax before you drive away.

Its the wrong time. Its wait or Mr Ebay. Dont have to decide yet. If I had the space I would keep it. I could put it down the end of my long garage but I would need to get rid of a lot of junk! I'm not going to give it away as its good.

Thats OK ifyou want to use it as main car straight away but usually involves swapping insurance fom existing vehicle.
cant usually tax on a temporary policy.
My preferred option is to get the seller to tax if possible but would always send the cash first
