Car and caravan for sale.

Due to health problems, we very sadly have to part with ours. The car is a 1984 Carlton 1800 Automatic, which is MOT'd until May and taxed until November. The caravan is a 1985 Sprite Alpine four berth, which has new tyres and a spare wheel, plus many useful items to go with it. The car needs some very minor attention to the body and the caravan has two dents in it, nothing serious in either case and both are in very good condition generally. We're looking at £750 for the car and £450 for the caravan. We reside in Telford, Shropshire and can be contacted on here, or by 'phone on 07931 617124, if more details are required. Not half as sorry as we are Kevin, especially after all the time and effort spent, not forgetting expense too, but that's life, you never know what's coming. We're not totally giving up, because we MAY get a camper van, or swap the outfit for one if something turns up, not forgetting, we still have our Mk1 Astra tucked away in the garage. It's the effort of siting the caravan that's the problem, coupled with the osteoarthrits I've developed in my hands and wrists. Cheers, John and Sue.

My wife and I went from caravan to motorhome as we got older. If you need any advise re the motorhome purchase , give me a call 01634 682596. Have had quite a few. Watch the 2.3 FIAT turbo's. Also reverse shuddering. Also expensive cooling system water leaks under the dash. 8 hour job to take out! Just watch FIAT! We go Peugeot or Ford transit. 1600 VW campers drop valves!

Thanks for the advice. I already know about Fiats, plus Peugeots and a few others, I've been in the motor trade virtually all my life and have come across many. VW campers in particular, before the problems of them catching fire was cured. We may now have a slight change of plan, because, after more though, we may seek out a good quality trailer tent, no tax or MOT's to worry about, and if we get the right one, our Mk1 Astra will manage it like it's done in the past. After further thought, we've decided that the contents we have for the caravan can go with it for an extra £150. The items include a nearly new flushing portaloo, all the pots, pans, cutlery, anti-snake device, fire extiguisher and many,many  more, which is just about everything else needed to set up and go caravaning. Why not get a "motorised caravan mover" Like a BIG FOOT or similar?

These normally replace the jockey wheel with a powered one.

These are a LOT cheaper than the axle mounted movers and are easily transferred to a new caravan if you get a different one.

Also a trailor tent is going to be nearly as hard to site as a small caravan like your's.

I've got one for mine and it makes siting easy.

Something I almost forgot is the fact that a few spares go with the car. They are, a new front exhaust pipe with gasket, an extra spare tyre, new timing and distributor drive belts, although those on the car have recently been replaced. Cheers, John.

After much further thought, we've decided to keep the Carlton for a while yet, well at least for the next year or so. Having now got a lightweight folding caravan, why not? She's a good car, we use it as our daily driver, and apart from a few minor items, there's really nothing to do to it. Having said that, it's possible that something MAY be found during the MOT in May, fingers crossed though, because I may have difficulty sorting out anything heavy should that arrise.
