Nice motor! As it says above its the Gsi thats getting difficult to find. Unfortunately all the others have not caught up.

It will be a while before they move from enthusiasts cars to collectors cars. Too many around.

Hello Jason, welcome to the forum. Good bunch on here always willing to help out, either with information (How to's) or spannering if close by.

whereabouts in Wokingham?

I used to live in Crowthorne many moons ago and would hang out there every now and then.

Used to go out with girls from Holt school!!!!!!

Cheers guys

Omega's are strange, it's rare when a manual 3.0 comes up on eBay but still they are worth nothing and prices still keep rocketing down, I reckon a few more years an they will start disappearing, people will start wanting them because they can't find one, then prices will rise slowly.

It was only a few years ago I remember seeing loads of Carltons for sale, my cousin used to buy one regularly for peanuts, then all of a sudden there was none, odd how it works

Same with cavaliers, e30's and sierras

Even more of a reason I want a Carlton gsi now while they are fairly reasonable prices cause it won't be long at all until there is none available an then prices will be crazy

I live in winnersh just near the sainsburys, Not quite Wokingham. Only been here a couple of years, I'm from Reading originally

Hi Jason and welcome l, love the wheels on your omega, what are they?

Good luck with your search for a GSi, the good ones are not for sale I'm afraid.

Cheers

Wheels are 18" bbs rs, 8j fronts and 9.5j rears. I wanted to do something that hasn't been done before on a omega, so I've used vw wheels 5x112 with correction bolts to allow 2mm difference, They fit perfectly on the 5x110 vauxhall hubs without any adaptors or spacers

Had 19" wheels before, looked quite boring though

I was running it on 15" steels for a couple of years and was used for purely drifting, then I started making it look nice, still get it sideways but it's just not the same fun with expensive wheels, so kinda keeping this for best now, Carlton gsi can put the fun back in my life  Grin

I'm not looking for a mint Carlton as it will be my new project an I don't mind work, just want one mechanically sound that's fairly clean, I would probably settle for a good 12v as well

As you said, values are based upon their availability. What has changed is that availability has actually improved because of improved communications such as ebay and the internet. Now you can find them quite easily compared with years ago.  Expensive ones on ebay do not always sell unless they have a known history which is important to collectors.

Unfortunately the Carltons are still being used as everyday cars although the numbers are dropping. When they start appearing at classic car shows is when the values rise and also when they reach 20 years old to get classic car insurance (cheap).

might be too clean but what about this?? A seriously nice 12v

http://totalcarlton.com/forums/index.php/topic,12832.0.html

trouble is it is probably the cleanest you will find but this is reflected in the price!!

he also has a 24v that a bit of sweet talking may persuade him to part with!

That is totally stunning, im in love.

If i had the money i wouldnt think twice, still in the process of saving for one though, and still a long way off that.

Cheers though mate, do you think the 24v will be cheaper or is that mint too?

Hi Jason

Welcome along/out of the shadows.  Smiley

Good luck with your search for a GSi although that is a nice looking Meega you have there. I'll have to keep an eye out for it/you as I'm only in Woodley myself, work in Winnersh (behind Halfords) & reasonably often go to &/or through Wokingham to family & friends.

Maybe the unfinished project down here in Kent would suit you?

It looks to be a solid 24v and would make an ideal car for you as it recently failed to sell on ebay, so maybe a bargain could be had.

Check the for sale section for a link.

I'm pleased to say I can. Sporting Bears ride at the 2010 Classic Car show at the NEC.

The Anniversary model was the last of the line but was adorned with side skirts, splitters, spoilers, the works so due to the extra weight was slower than the 'standard' 5000 quatrovalve (the one I'm sat in). Why they even have a stereo I don't know as above 3k rpm you can't hear yourself speak let alone the other person in the car. Plus all the music you want is right behind you head.  Smiley

The engine note on the Countach is spine tingling. My days of being able to get in and drive one, have long gone. The anniversary model for me looks stunning. That's the one that I drove. Its the only Italian exotica I have had the pleasure of. It had an upgrade package, which freed off a more power with better acceleration.
