Am I the only TC member in south Wales?

Just out of interest, I was watching the bidding on a Lotus Carlton book by Ian Adcock.

The winning bidder paid, or will be paying, £165.70 for it!!!!

I can only assume these boxed books are as rare as fairy shite?

Pretty much.

They used to swap hands for around £125 a couple of years ago, but come up less and less, so their value is on the rise. Wink

I guess its pointless asking santa for one.

Were these books given to owners of the Lotus version, or did they have to buy them?

I don't think they were given to the owners IIRC, Mr. Adcock wrote his book from a 'within Lotus' perspective.
The owners' book is simply technical info with some cutaway pictures and excellent photographs where the Elsie looks green, black and even blue.

I've never seen the book before. The one on eBay was the first time I have seen one. I will have to be content with my mint Lotus Carlton brochure.

They weren't but they are numbered as per the vehicles although the book ran to the full production run unlike the car itself (more books than cars). I did start to try & find the matching book number to my car but a fruitless search.

I paid circa. £130 for mine over 2 years back but have noticed the sell price going up lately (not that I'm selling). It tells the story from the original concept of the Lotus Senator with drawings & mock ups of it through to the build of the LC/LO & as Pete said, cutaways, schematics, tech spec et al.

You never know, one day you may find the book with the same number as your car.

Myself and Paula volunteer with Adref, a charity for the homeless. They have a shop in Pontypridd. I was talking to an oldish lady who had been searching for something for nigh on twenty years and she found it in the shop, which had only been open a couple of weeks. The item in question wasn't a Lotus Carlton book to match her car, but an ornate glass candle holder, which was part of a set. One broke and she searched for its replacement.

So, never give up mate, you never know!
