So the engine has been rebuilt and working fine for the last 2 1/2 years.
My question to you all is just
Hhow hard have you got to be thrashing it to put a con rod out the side of the block!!.
Not even i have managed this!, some right numptys in the world

There are many reasons a con-rod could go through the engine block - component failure being the main culprit. Thrashing the engine might have not got anything to do with it - unless you're not telling the whole story. You've gone this far, Ian......so finish it!
Might as well get hung for a sheep as a lamb.
