How bad is the damage?  Can it not be welded?

Yeah that's the downside to GM6.
He may have the 'hard to find' parts but you'll pay a mint for them!

Hmmm, your opinion - but he has a living to make. It's not like you or I selling from our piles of stuff on the side. Wink

Don't forgot the postage on the gasket, which is £4.50,  £7.50 or £10.90 depending how much of hurry you're in.

£15 for a bolt. I have to have a root in me shed. I could be sitting on a fortune!

in a hurry for a leaky gasket? I tried in vain twice to reuse an old c30se GM gasket (remember my sump has been swapped 3 times lol), they were totally undamaged. I didn't use sealant first time... then a whole tube the second time, leaked a lot.

In the end I bought a new one... for £20, job done!

Seriously, have your damaged one modified so it's shallower, I am lower than you and have not had any issues since!

is there any scope for redoing the engine mounts and raise it out the way?
i did that on my 2litre to get the sump bowl just higher than the lowest point on the subframe.

Cut the bottom off and welded a new plate in higher, yes the pickup pipe needs shortening too
