my 24v has just started putting management light on from time to time. for a week or so when starting it was only finding couple off cylinders,bit smokey then after couple off mins revs will steady and seems to run' not too bad on 6' doesnt seem rite tho Huh Undecided

any suggestions??

or tips on paper-clip test so i can try and identify...

do a compression test on it see what you get could be a head gasket (expensive) and while you're there a set of chains/guides/tensioner's oil pumpetc usually hits the £1500-£2000 mark in a garage however the guides are nls chains you will need to join ABS and buy peter harrison uprated ones and a nice set of 10mm plug leads

alternatively find a good s/h engine!

Thanks for link, will try comp test after work... Hopefully not eh!! If so I will be looking for low milage donor!! Undecided

If no code stored, could just be the dizzy needs to be re-centred.

Slacken clamp at dizzy base just enough so you can turn the dizzy.
Start engine, turn dizzy clockwise until engine stalls, make a position mark on base.
Move dizzy back to original position.
Start engine, turn dizzy anti-clockwise until engine stalls, mark point on base.
Set dizzy half-way between first and second marks and tighten clamp.

Job jobbed.
