We have been entrusted with the sale of a late customer's beautiful Opel Senator 3.0E CD, with only 40,120 miles from new and MOt until Oct 21st 2012. Tax to end of November 2011. Please see this video

Derek@GM6Spares.fsnet.co.ukThis car belonged to member Brian Hatt, who sadly passed away four months ago. It was in good condition when he bought it but the few faults found were rectified by us. I personally re-waxed the car underneath, in the doors, all cavities etc, a four day very messy job. The car is as near perfect as you will find for a 1983 Opel Senator and besides there are only 11 registered with DVLA as beng taxed and tested (in total, all years of registration), so there isn't a lot of choice! There are two small bits of bodywork rust shown in the video which have appeared in the last year, a small dent on the rear RH quarter, and a parking ding in the front LH bumper corner. Apart from that I'm struggling to find anything wrong with it.
The wheels and tyres are not on the car as they went flat while the owner was ill, they come with the car but the good tyres now have some age cracks in them. The air conditioning works as it should; in other words, it blows out
cold air, not just ambient air and is still fully charged up.
This car is lovely to drive and it makes me realise what good cars they were when launched back in 1979. If I were a rich car collector I would keep it myself, but I'm not and I need to sink money into my Monza, so this car is seeking a caring new owner. I won't sell it to anybody, they must be a genuine enthusiast and hopefully have the means to keep the car as mint as possible.
I have no idea what someone might pay, but I can say that in view of the cost of work put into it over the past two years it would be cheap even at £5,000. But I obviously don't expect any Senator to fetch that sort of money!
Of course there is more choice amongst the Vauxhall Senator incarnation of the car that followed on when the Opel ones were discontinued in the UK, but Opel ones are now very rare and in my view have that little extra cachet.
