Hi.. Yes I believe Trevor is the guy who originally built it.. Had a few problems with it of recent... The car started suddenly to overheat rather quickly!! Friend of mine has got a sniffer!!! Not sure if thats the correct term for it haha.. But anyway... It detected a lot of exhaust fumes in the water.... Taken the head of to do a headgasket change etc, and found one of the shite cheapo headgaskets in it!!!! One with the red line??
Replaced it with a Reinz headgasket, and should hopefully be rebuilt by Saturday...

Also suspect that the high lift cams have been taken out... They've got GM stamped all over them!!!!

Hmm. something wrong there, I built the engine and used a rienz gasket!! the highlift cams were schrick cams i believe, so something has gone on, is the tubular manifild still on it? and the piggyback ecu?

The exhaust manifolds are still on it but not sure about the ecu?.. finished the head gasket today and started it up.. ticking over fine and is very responsive who you rev it,but its still overheating quite quickly.. not sure if this is because the viscous fan's been removed.. not been for a drive in yet so can't be sure... Worst thing I'm thinking is a cracked block!!!.. guy who's doing the work for me reckons is very unlikely as its so crisp and responsive when you rev it.. I'm no way near mechanically minded enough to even have a clue... I'm just para-phrasing what he's said ha ha....
Noticed also that one of the core plugs in the block has got some sort of sealant around it??

Gonna fit a viscous fan on it Monday morning and keep my fingers crossed that it doesn't overheat....

Does the heater only blow cold?  Mines a 12v but had similar problems which where down to the water pump as Carltontoy suggested

When you put the viscous fan on, make sure that you have the cowling on also; the cowling radically increases the fan efficiency Wink

Result !!!... Put the viscous fan on and let it idle for half an hour... Just crept slightly above the quarter line them back down again... Just wouldn't overheat, so I'm a very very happy man... Fingers crossed it stays like that lol !!!

Well back to square one.. Huh Took some friends to The airport yesterday, and its still overheating.. very gradually but it creeps up after 5 mins in traffic.. also noticed lots of white smoke coming out the exhaust.. I can only think cracked block .... Head gaskets brand new and fitted correctly. Torqued down angled tightened etc... And the heads been pressure tested and cracked tested..

If it is the block that is cracked, would you consider a complete engine? Is yours 12v or 24v? I know of a good 24v engine out of a Senator.

Think I'd be tempted with a complete engine... Would obviously depend on price, condition mileage etc..

It's a 24v manual
Could put all the good bits from mine, onto the new engine !!

The engine is out a 92 Senator auto. Head gasket went so he redone top end. Me mate is a fitter, so its been done right. Car pulled like a train. I'm unsure of mileage and price, I have to check with me mate.

If you did get the engine, where are you? Engine is in Pontypridd. I could deliver it in my estate if needed.

Really nice of you this mate.. greatly apprieciated.. I might of already sourced a good replacement engine..

I'm close to Manchester..

If you could find out the mileage etc that would be great.... Its still a really clean car so i'd like to put the newest, tightest best option that I can find lol...
