Just wondering here, x had a bit of a scuffle with a leon cr on a private highway baiting me to try to overtake him.......
he pulled over at 100mph into the left lane infront of x and flashed to say take me if you can, now heres the surprising bit......
x figured x wouldnt be able to top end him on this big long straight but from 100mph x started gaining ground at 120, alongside and pulling near 130 and passed him and going away at near 140!
Is this supposed to happen or has he got a dud leon cr? The guy was trying coz he was well pissed when x went passed him flashing lights n all!

I tend to think that newer, smaller, sporty GTi, STi, cars may well get to 100mph quickly, look pretty and in real terms, are reasonable to afford. Point, squirt, brake, point, squirt yada yada yada.

But they're not a proper GT car - GT stands for Grand Tourer, and that's what I would call cars like ours, BMW's, Senators, etc.

A mate has just paid 10k for a Y reg Scooby - looks the bollox in blue, hardly any suspension so it handles fabulously, got all the gear and got bugger all miles on the clock. No doubt it would see off a GSi Carlton too.................. Until the Carlton screams past him at 125 mph, cos the Scoob would have run out of puff by then. He's wound the Scoob up to 125, and says it just won't go any faster..........and he's off to the dentist again next week! LOL!

I think I'm right in saying that the leon has more torque lower down in the rev range (about 2200rpm iirc) where as the senators is higher up at  3600rpm which means that the leon is virtually out of puff when the senator is just getting going  Grin
