Hi folks,

My name is Elias and i from Paranaguá/Paraná/Brazil.

We have (my wife and me) a Station Wagon version of Carlton know as "Omega Suprema" (Chevrolet Omega Suprema 2.2i), construct by Chevrolet (GM subsidiary).

We choose  2.2 4CC engine because the price of Gasoline in Brazil is very hight, and cars of personal use can not authorized to use Diesel (only utilities, truck etc),  and this car actualy is used in day-a-day.

In Brazil we have a very dificulty to find specific parts of trim (ex: hand brake hood/complement, cinder-box etc).
When you find, the parts extremely expensive :-(

So I'm here to exchange experience with all who love these cars!

Best Regards!

A huge welcome to our first (I think?) Brazilian member!

The good news for you is that we can help with parts and advice, although the postage may be expensive. Grin

As Chris says - we would love to see some pictures of your car.

Welcome Elias. Nice to hear from Brazil. I worked for Volvo in Curitiba for a while. Lovely country and people. Hope we can help you in the future. Try and post some pictures of the car.

Am I the only TC member in south Wales?

Greetings from south Wales. Welcome to the wonderful world of TC.

It would be good to see pics of yours. I wonder what the differences are between yours and my UK version, the Carlton estate?

Hi Folks,

"man of kent", I visited the Volvo in Curitiba in 2007 (through Dell service). Curitiba is very close to Paranagua: 60 miles:). Which country do you live now?

Follow the link of Omega Suprema. The color is "Red Goya", made in 1995 / 1996 model.

kevinfourlegs,

In Brazil the Omega and Omega Suprema (SW) as builded from 1993 to 1998.
This model is know as "Omega A". 4 types of engines were built:

- 2.0, 2.2 Gasolina (4-cil.)
- 2.0 Ethanol (4-cil.)
- 3.0, 4.1 Gasolina (6-cil. in line)

On the portuguese Wikipédia have more information:

What is the engine of yours?

Best Regards!

Hi again Elias. Greetings via my Dell !

Nice car! Had one that colour a long time ago. Can you get spares ok? You will get lots of advice on this forum. Some of the guys and girls are real experts. I remember lots of older UK cars in Brazil. There was a very good auto museum in Curitiba run by a club. Saw a derelict Cord being brought in from Rio on a truck.

I'm back in the UK and now retired. I was in Curitiba a long time ago when Volvo started building buses there. I was working on the introduction of the B58 bus into Brazil. I designed a new shorter front end to meet the low front axle loadings which were biased towards the Mercedes buses. Volvo actually negotiated a higher front axle load shortly after, so all my work was thrown away which is not unusual in the automotive industry. This was way back in about 1982.

I think we should continue with recollections by personal messages as we may bore other Carlton owners. See 'my messages' and post to man of kent.

Nice to hear from Brasil.

Thank chrismec and man of kent,

I have a list of things I'm packing it slowly.

In the pictures you can see that the front bezel is cracked, and the Handbrake Gaiter and other gear. Gradually I am correcting!

Best Regards!
