When I got out to photograph it, the notice on it says that it's a motorway air quality monitor.

It's mounted on the edge of a bridge over the M6 between J10 and J10A; it's not visible from the motorway.

Don't believe all you read!

They're spacecrafts cunningly disguised as mobile chippies.
There are no wheels cos where they come from they don't need wheels as they don't have roads.
That gizmo on the top - looks like a camera, don't it? Nah, it's the engine - small, compact immensely powerful. I nicked one and fitted it to the roof of a mate's Mini - he scorched off down the road and I've not seen him since! I wouldn't mind, but he owes me a tenner.
The other flattish looking thing on the roof? That's the aircon. unit. It gets a trifle warm when entering the atmosphere, dontcha know.
I think (hope?) that at a pre-determined signal, all these craft around the country shall lift off and hunt down all the illegal immigrunts, ne'er-do-wells, the surly, useless, teenage shop assistants and ........... Man U supporters. Nah, scratch that - anything to do with Man U!

Those of us left - and I know I'll still be here - will be able to live life in this country as we should, but until then, we just have to keep schtum.

The prescience of Pedro & Mark is amazing: It's coming to life the large silver cylinder on top of its head has moved to the horizontal and it's emitting an intense blue beam of light.

Coming to a neighbourhood near YOU.

I have seen static (& smaller) air monitors around Croydon. I think they are to do with EU regulations on air pollution. They monitor CO, particles and other chemicals. Apparently the A23 near me almost continuously exceeds EU regulations (kind of illegal)!. Goodness knows what the air quality in/around croydon was like in August during all the arson attacks !. Possible improved !. I know people who had to move out as they were down wind of the fire at Reeves Corner.
