Hi, bit of an odd one. Got the diamond on the road a couple of days ago and its started doing a strange thing. I go to start her up and she fires fine, idles sweet. Now you go to pull off and she cuts out, no cough, nothing. Start her back up and she's still the same. Now if you give her full throttle she'll rev fine, there is just nothing (and I mean nothing!) inbetween. Only way I have found to cure it is to rev her past 4k three times. Under 4k doesn't sort her and nor does over 4k twice. It prats about like this whether the lump is warm or cold and the light does not come on. Now my initial thought was ecu, as it happened I had a spare in the garage so I plugged her in and she's still the same. I've checked every sensor while she's doing it and everything at the ecu is coming in fine, the lambda is even switching!
Most problems I can sort but with this I AM STUMPED!! Please help!! Am I just missing something obvious? Joel.

Thanks, this is doing my nut! I would like to get it sorted out cos I don't like thrashing a stone cold engine and I'm sure the neighbours don't appreciate it at 1am either.

Sounds like a fuel pressure or air flow problem

Thanks for your replies. I've checked the fuel pressure and it's fine. While its doing it TPS is reading ok at the ecu plug. I've removed the lid off the AFM this evening and given it a good clean with some contact cleaner and a ear bud, it looks in quite good condition. I'll see how it goes in the morning as it seems to be getting worse. Joel.

Checked the air seals on the induction side? Especially after the AFM.

sounds like engine management problems(mines a 88 and suffers too) ~mine started dying out for no reason too, check the fuel pump relay, that helped mine once, best o luck

Right I cleaned the AFM, still no joy. I can disconnect it while she's running and doing it and the signal is fine from 0 to WOT.
theaceofbass: I don't have issues with her cutting out she will idle all day long and will run at WOT as well but that is it, i have no part throttle, the injectors just stop pulsing. If it try to half throttle rev her she just dies. I then have either 2 options before it stops turning, release the pedal so she returns to idle or floor it. I have to rev the engine using WOT as I have nothing else to over 4K rpm three times and then the engine runs lovely, possibly for the rest of the day. It is defo a management issue but I just don't know what. I have checked readings at the ECU multiplug for all the sensors while she's doing it and changed the ecu but it still persists in doing it.
