Quick one for all you in the know...My C20se has the shielded plug leads, any issues with running non shielded ones? Or will I end up with crazy radio reception and such like...

as far as i know there will be no problems but i cant guarantee it!!

there are 10mm leads on ebay btw!!

I'm not sure what you mean by shielded leads ? totally shielded leads are usually only used on military spec. vehicles.

The standard original equipment leads should be perfecly adequate: If you mean leads with the metal shrouded spark plug connector, my standard 2.6 leads don't have this shroud and it doesn't cause any problems.

In my opinion, the original lead type was designed for good reason so why not stick with it !

Mr Mad, have you got a link I couldn't find them? Poor ebay skills strike again...

Mel, they are the ones I meant, wasn't sure of their correct name but those are the ones...just wasn't sure if the shroud was a necessary requirement or not.

I reckon that some sort of shroud is necessary to stop condensation forming on the plug ceramic and shorting out the spark on cold damp mornings.

Mine are rubber, but then my plugs are set in a recess in the head so don't need to be as long as the 2 litre plug shroud.

The metal shroud is probably there to add rigidity rather than suppression because the plugs have an integral suppressor resistor (as does any plug with an 'R' in its part number)
