I've got a Grundig, type 4870 RDS fitted to my Dippy, it's the one with the face off and CD changer in the boot.
The problem with it is that it will work ok for a while and then just cut out altogether ( radio). It only seems to happen on FM, medium wave seems to work ok all the time. I haven't tried the CD yet, so can't comment on that. I'm just wondering if it's something to do with the face off section. Could the select buttons be playing up?
Any ideas lads. Gotta have me Virgin radio on the way to work  Smiley
Anyone got a spare face-off piece for one of these?

It's the "classic" FM problem - some units do it others don't there is a guy in the 'stormers club who fixes them (well 90% of em)

Any idea what the problem is BC?
Is it an internal fault with the unit?
I've been offered a Phillips RC by a work colleague, will that plug staight in? I don't think it's got the cd facility.

Yeah internal fault - either the FM Modulator unit goes out of tune (common) or dry joints on one of the circuit boards (not so common but happens)

The phillips will plug straight in but like you say it won't control the changer

My mate at work only wants a score for the Phillips, so I think I'll have it until the Grundig can be repaired.
Thanks for the help BC.

Sorted. Thanks blippi.
My work colleague never came up with the Phillips either, so yours came along at a double-handy time m8.
