A weekend, bit of G3 and some Hammerite - it be reyt! Grin

I'd love a splittie and I'd swap Der Louts  for one, although for what Der Louts is worth, it might only be in the same condition as the one in those pics! Undecided

I just love the fish on the steering wheel, is it one of those novelty singing

fish that sings a song when you whistle/clap your hands ? If so that probably

explains what it was doing in the lake in the first place. Grin Grin Grin

Anyway the engines bound to be flooded so it would never start Cheesy Cheesy

In a post on the VW forum, someone says that they think the gearbox broke, then the owner pushed it in to the lake. If that is the case, why? It doesn't seem logical.

I remember reading about htis in PC about a year or two ago. The original owner shoved it in the lake in the 70s as it wasn't worth repairing the gearbox at the time. (Think 15 year old transit now). It transpired that a VDub enthusiast who is also a keen sub aqua diver heard about it and spent some time searching for it. Found it and arranged to get it winched out to restore as Samba's are now highly desirable.
