We're looking for a distibutor for our 1984 Mk2 1800, or even the base of one. The vacuum unit has packed in on ours, so just that part would do. Cash waiting and postage paid, but if you're reasonably close to us here in Telford, Shropshire, we'll come and collect because it's rather urgently needed. We've seen one on "greed-bay", but at £50 starting price, that's a bit steep. Cheers, John and Sue.

Tried no end of suppliers of both new and old stocks, still no luck. One in Basildon has two complete distributors on the shelf, but after the VAT, postage and old unit surchage is added, it comes to well over £100, which presently we can't afford. If it's of any help, the distributor type we're looking for is a Bosch JFUF, the part number on the base is 0237021019 and it rotates anti-clockwise. Sorry, I can't find a part number for the vac unit on its own. Cheers, John and Sue.

Now got fixed up. Just the vac unit which an old friend came up with. Fitted it, warmed up the engine to operating temperature and all I had to do then was re-adjust the idling speed. Been out for a run and it goes like it always should have done, great stuff. Going to keep an eye on the mpg now, which should improve from the 22-24mpg we've been averaging to date. Our old Mk3 1800 Carlton used to regularly return 28-30 on average. I say on average here, because we tow the caravan from time to time and use motorways too as well as local running. We'll keep you updated with progress. Off to a meet tomorrow. Not far from us at Oswestry with the VODC and a couple of other clubs, so I've topped up the tank to check it out. Cheers, John and Sue.

Done my calculations after topping up at the same pump at the same filling station and the mpg comes out at 34.24 Can't get much better we think, which means she's doing better than our previous Mk3 Carlton. Well pleased we are. Cheers, John and Sue.
