ECU
« on: June 13, 2011, 03:41:08 PM »

Hi,
Can you fit an ECU for the 20SE to a car with a C20NE engine?

Would it a, Work?
            b, up the BHP?

I know the C20NE is lower compression but can't see why they made it for poor grade fuel in this country! Huh

It won't fit, you'd need to replace the loom as well, (or rewire the old one)
you would not be able to conect the lambda sensor, the air flow meter is diffrent too.
so the emissions would go to T*Ts
as for upping the BHP ... unlikely
you could port/polish the head and regrind the valves, this could give you better flow and sealing on the valves.
you could swap to the older 20SE engine (and swap loom/sensors etc)
this would give you a few more horses (and because the engine is pre cat, you'd be allowed 3.5 % co on emissions
but it's alot of work compared with minimal increase in BHP.
and you'd need to declare mods to DVLA and insurance company,

although its a fair amount of work as standard there is a 7 bhp advantage which in real terms is still a fair power gain!!

one of the guys at work was looking at a few mods for an astra G (mk4) from regal and they quoted him £250-£300 for a 4-5 bhp increase!!

there are ways to improve the power delivery but the best way is to find a good 20se and drop it in not
a bad job to do tbh
