Am I the only TC member in south Wales?

« on: June 04, 2011, 08:53:59 PM »

As the heading says, breaking a 92 J reg Senator 3.0 CD model.

Its not mine, it belongs to a mate of mine. They have owned the car for 11 years. It has been off the road since August 2010. The car has a serious case of tinworm, hence the decision to break it. Its had the top end rebuilt a couple of years ago, when the head gasket went. The car has a stainless non cat exhaust.

The car is located near Pontypridd, south Wales.

Any questions?

12v or 24?
Auto (prob) or manual?
How much would they be asking for the engine?

I would usually say go manual but that particular car was built to original blueprint spec which called for the autobox - the box that's in there is far from standard!

The car originally came with two catalytic converters. When the exhaust went, a few years back, they had the cats removed and had a custom stainless exhaust made. Was cheaper than buying a mild steel standard system.

I  will ask if he has lambda sensors.

Senator 3.0 auto aircon. If your Diamond is a 3.0 auto aircon, then I would say yes. However, I am not as knowledgable as others about what fits what. I will get a price off me mate for you.

Thanks for the enlightenment, Chris. I would have thought that the 3.0 were the same, providing they both were auto and had air con.

Yes that would make sense to everyone but Opel apparently!

It would also make sense to manufacturing costs, as making one would be cheaper than making two? Vauxhall and Opel must have had their reasons.
