Am I the only TC member in south Wales?

« on: May 26, 2011, 11:56:38 PM »

The bonnet badge on mine was peeling so it was removed. I was thinking about using a vinyl sticker over it, but as it was an uneven surface, I decided against it. So I removed the Opel bonnet badge off the Diplomat as it came from the dealer and looked new. As I removed the Vauxhall badge from the estate, it cracked and broke. I removed the Opel badge off the Diplomat in one piece. However, the adhesive backing didn't come off intact. So, what do I use to attach the bonnet badge?

Thanks for that. One more question, where do I get either of them? Never heard of them before.

Does it come in a small size? Only need enough to put a bonnet badge on.

It comes in tubes, standard silicone sealer size so you'll need a gun to go with it unfortunately. But on the plus side you won't have to worry about it coming off!

Buy a tube, fix the badge on then pass the remainder on.
There's bound to be someone else who needs a bit.

Or buy trim tape, which is just thin foam double sided tape for fixing trim etc to cars, just like the original stuff on the badge.

It will cost less, be less messy and the rest can be kept for other jobs whereas the stuff in a tube likes to set in time once opened.

but the badge will sit proud and be easier for the local oiks to pinch (been there done that) you could use araldite but that can go brittle over time imho sikaflex or tigerseal is the best thing to use

and no i dont have shares in either!!lol
