wow just read this
is there a how 2 , lol
couple of questions
what did you do to the inlet manifold , did you find , finding the gaskets easy [inlet ones ]
dont think i saw a picture of the sound deadening on the bulkhead , lower
have you cleaned this ,stupid question i suppose , how did you do this ?
as mines got a nice green tinge !
seeing your pictures has given me something to aim for , i know i,ll be well short , but hayhoo!

i would love to see this in the flesh  !

Sorry, now 'how to' on this but happy to answer any questions.

Firstly, I assume you mean the gasket that fits inbetween the manifold and the head. It came in my head gasket kit, but I'm sure they're available on their own. It's a long 'foil' type gasket that fits along the entire length of the head and sits on the two locating dowels and seals the outlet manifold as well.

Here is a photo of it. (note: I was using it as a template when I was painting the head)

The sound deadening was green on mine too, but it was looking tatty so I took it off, just pull/unscrew the grey clips and it comes away. I cleaned it up and just gave it a light coat of black spray paint (just dust it over as it's spongy it will crack)

Hope this helps. But in truth mate, your Gsi looks gorgeous. I've just got carried away with mine!! Undecided

Thanks Chris.

Hoping to get it ready and on the road for the end of June/July so I can get down to Billing.

All being well you can see it there. I'll be hoping to visit other shows this year too, with it being a Carlton Gsi I think it falls into a number of categories, Classic/Retro/Performance etc...

Cheers.

Just seen the restoration of your Gsi3000 and feel I must put my two pennyworth in. The work you've done is a credit to you. Its a cracking job, keep up the good work. I'm running a 2.0 ltr CDX daily in Derbyshire and hope to do a lot of work on mine shortly to keep it going for a lot longer.
