Hi all, well i set off a 6 30 this morning to pickup the old girl from hemle hempsted - luckily the decks and the bike sold so i could get her. got back at 11 30 this mornin, was well chuffed only cost me 20 quid to get her back to trowbridge lol

ok so she has 190000 on the clock and is some what hanging but she pulls Very well, very comfy and nearly everything workes except for aircon, cruise control and a heated seat - hell even the headlight wipers work lol
The seats have seen better days so im not sure if im going to put them in the gsi, im going to see if i can get something to bring them back up to colour as they have scratched in them. also the central blower/clock display unit has a chip in it so will need one of them when transferring the dash. Got her home and started to look around, engine is fine but you do get blue smoke with heavy revs ( no pressure like the carly though which im happy about ) the backbox is a bit shot but possibly salvagable. new centre exhausts and new cats are on her !!!
The chap i got her off said be carfull the back axle dont fall out ---- yeah theres a little bit of rust lol HUGE hole on the driver side sill near sealt belt bolts, masses of rust under car , the front wing , well yeah um rotten, rear driver side arch is a half ass job of filler, pass side rear arch is from an omega lol , mk1 omega alloys which are ok. brakes are good. tow bar :-)  climate control :-)
we did notice though aswell that if you bounce up and down on the towbar, the rear lights sort of bend in towards the centre - might be a bit of a rotten chassis lol the thing is hanging but hopefully lots of salvageable parts areto be had and stuff _ hell heres some pics for a laugh lol :-)
sorry if the pics are huge , not good at uploading and stuff

the gem lol

rear seats

omega arch

spares :-)

rear of car

tidy engine hopefully it will be ok in the carly

pass front seat - need to find a way to get it black again

inside isnt too bad

rear driver side arch LOL

ummmm rust n filler next to petrol cap

one driver side sill --- or whats left lol

and on closer inspection lol

the beauty lol

front driver side arch might need a rub down lol

OMG please tell me that didn't have an MOT! Apart from the body, the engine and interior look quite clean, well done! Wink

well i dont have a clue how its been gettin through the MOTs but i know it aint gonna go through another.  managed to get the whole thing including thew spares in the boot all for 200 cash + 50 fuel for my mate and 20 for drive home in senny so 270 all in !!!!!
i think its a bargin, straight away the things i dont think i will need are:
the new cats,
 the new centre section exhaust,
 the alloys,
hubcaps,
2 spare headlamps,
 the auto gearbox
 the glass,
 elec sunroof,
bumpers ( not sure if im keeping the front end for the carly- if i do i will need a drivers side front wing )
 lol
so i think its going to pay itself off easily.

also looking i think the windscreen is the same isnt it Huh? could do with a new one in the carly lol and wonder if i could fit the elec suspension - not sure what it does yet but i found a knob with S,M,C settings for shocks ? ? ? self leveling? ...

am looking forward to the next few weeks :-) ;-)

Not self levelling, just adjusts stiffness
S = Sports (about right)
M = Medium ( a bit soft)
C = Comfort (get the sick Bag)

Also not sure but I think the front wings are the same on carlton and senator except for the height of the trim.
(just try fitting a senny headlight in the Carlton, if it goes your OK. (take the grill off first LOL))

you will need a few parts of the wiring loom to make the shocks work

like the whole loom!

iirc the fronts are on the dash loom at least (info from jonnybear) but a proper setup will be a better bet for handling, decent shocks and springs are the way forward!

Yes the windscreen is the same, a mate of mine had one from a carlton I scrapped (was a very rusty 2.3D) and had it fitted it to his senny no problem. I managed to get the screen out all by myself but he had to get a fitter to put it in his due to the bonding process. Not an easy task for a DIY'er!

well we got the engine and gearbox out last night finally!!! - was a bit of a bummer getting it out as the car was on axle stands and the lift didnt really lft much lol - will get some pics up later on.
all thats left to get off the car is the suspension setup, rear dif, brakes, air con, and heater matrix setup.

also i was goin to use the loom from the senny but the auto box has its own loom which is part of the main loom ( i thought it was seperate but not the case )
so am i right in saying that i shouldnt bother as my carly is manule and it would throw up all sorts of lights etc. correct???
