24 valves breathing pure heaven into the thing

« on: March 19, 2011, 12:20:10 PM »

I'm in the process of changing the speakers in my car. I've already changed the rear speakers, which where a real pain in the ass because of the place the scrues where fitted (directly under the rear window).
Anyway, that's sorted now, I installed a couple of Blaupunkt GTx663 3-way 220w.

Now, I want to change the door speakers too, but since I'm very new to taking apart panels and such in cars, I wonder how I can get the speaker covers off in a decent way? Tongue Do I have to take the whole inner door panel off, or can I just take off the "panel" that is covering the speakers?

Any help appreciated Smiley

whole panel has to come off buddy, just make sure your carefull with the red clip on the door lock pin - its most likely going to snap. not the end of the world though and the panel is really easy to come off - like any other really.

Use a very thin blade screwdriver and only lever in the centre or you will certainly break off the outer part; you will mark the clip but a fine file will remove most of the damage Wink

Thanks for the help both of you:) The previous owner told me the door card had been taken off one time, so maybe this pin already is broken? I wan't be able to chech this in a couple of weeks anyway, I'll be gone for a week or so.

BTW: Does anybody know the size of the front door speakers?

Ok, thanks  Cheesy

Another BTW: I'm thinking of bying an LG XDSS cd player. Is this an OK player or complete garbage? I'm not using more money than necessery, so no extreme players.

Its a matter of personal taste really and what you want the item to do, specifically, do you need blue tooth or Ipod connectivity, I've not had anything to do with LG units but as a recommendation have a look at
