i may be able to get my hands on a senny 24v if i can come up with the money quick enough - seen it far sale as spares or repairs as it needs welding . however , its got letterbox exhaust, its the 24v and is all there so was thinking of raping it for bits to repair my carly 24v which the head gaskit is gone on. now i have heard and seen that the senny front is a nice touch to a carly and not too hard - only seen it on estates at the moment - anyone done a saloon??? , also what else could i swap around and... if the senny is not too bad then i was going to sell it on minus the engine ( would include my old engine lol ) would the carly front fit on the senny any would anyone want it after ive finished with it , or is it best to break for spares???

Ahh now that's not normally good for performance now i have heard and seen that the senny front is a nice touch to a carly and not too hard - only seen it on estates at the moment - anyone done a saloon??? , also what else could i swap around Most things swap but getting it to look right is not so easy - the style of the bumper (plus the chrome) on a senator doesn't sit well on the front of a GSi Exhaust will poke out quite a way out of the back of a Carlton but nothing an angle grinder and a sliting blade with a steady hand can't sort and... if the senny is not too bad then i was going to sell it on minus the engine ( would include my old engine lol ) would the carly front fit on the senny Same reply as earlier - it's going to look odd... Good luck with the sale any would anyone want it after ive finished with it , or is it best to break for spares???
Colour etc - pics might help - not so many sennys on here - not so many anywhere to be honest and quite a few being broken for parts on ABS forum

Diplo-Matt's done it on a Carlton estate. He used Senator everything from the windscreen forwards - simple panel bolt-on job, IIRC. Might be a few small wiring issues to sort, but easy enough.
His looked really, really good, but silly bit of trim behind the front wheel arch doesn't line up with Carlton's door trim.
In my opinion, you really need to fit Senator rear arches (rarer than rocking horse poo!).

Why go through all the hassle of changing the front end you may aswell just have a senator?

I understand for an estate because its different and there was never a proper senny estate, but for a saloon seems pointless when you can actually get both carlton and senny saloons

But why not?
Personally, I reckon it looks cool on either estate or saloon. I also think the Senator interior should have been fitted to Carlton, cos the Carlton dash and old 80's grey/brown stripey cloth seats and doorcards is bloody awful!
A few 'European types' have been fitting different front ends to their cars for a number of years now - Golfs with A3 fronts, Pugs with Opel fronts, etc.

I actually think I'd prefer it the other way round, Senny rear end on a Carlton.

It was an Omega C40e though so technically more a Carlton than a Senator (Carlton dash and rear end) but it was a factory model and was fitted with the same C40SE engine that 24vman has just fitted to his Diamond. It's my ultimate "if I could have any Carlton what would it be" car!

Yeh i knew of these but it wasnt run of the mill like the senny saloon, and being so rare you wouldnt pick one up so easily so putting a senny front end on a carly estate is a viable option, whereas doing it to a saloon? Why not just buy the right car in the first place

I actually prefer the rear end of the senator (and the interior) but much prefer the front end of the Carlton (Hate getting half decapitated by the senator whenever you work on the engine beside anything else). Only way to achieve this is to bolt carlton front end on a senny but I have never seen it done well, trims just dont line up right.

well i may be in luck - guy got back to me and its mine for 200 pounds - if i can get it my plan is:
front of senny onto my carly engine from senny into my carly see if the heaters from senny fit my carly
carly front onto senny carly engine into senny
lol after that i might sell the senny as i think it needs welding for mot which doesnt sound good but if its got the carly front and i can get it looking right then it might be worth doing or something :-) will have to wait and see - ive put myu dj gear on ebay for 350 ono hoping to get it to pay for the car - anyone interested lol

Interior will fit. Seats are a straight swap - door card will also fit but only if you also fit the door opening handles and the dash if you want it to look good.

Good luck with the heating department!! Yes, the Senator heater box will fit in the Carlton, but you'll need all the Climate Control gubbins................. not impossible, but not an easy job! Oh, and the heater ducting under the dash = nitemare!
