Been busy restoring this car for a while now, waiting even longer for the 3.7 race engine to be built.

The only rot left is the rear rails and I'm doing them over the weekend.

So, an opportunity arose last week and I took it.

I bought ex RB's 4L Irmscher, it was delivered Tuesday and today I fitted it.

There are a few bits missing, but I have them or I can get them.

End of March it's going for a respray.

Very nice, I wouldn't consider a S6 engine anymore except for the 4.0 version as it has enough power to warrant it.

No !!!

The car was modified for the 3.7 race engine putting out far more then this engine.

Once the 3.7 arrives, this engine will go in my GSI 24v with a billet flywheel and getrag 265.

The Diamond will then have the 3.7 fitted with an LC box, axle and prop.

Update - Work in Progress.

All doors, boot and wings were blasted and hot metal'ed.

This rear quarter although repaired and rust free was pulled out 1/2 an inch and there's a hair line crack along the top door end.

Rear quarter given a clean

Bonnet ready for paint

Door back from the blasters being prepared.

At last, it's finished - Well almost, still got the sill covers to fit.

This is the last one I'm doing !!

The only work I'm going to do now is swopping the engines over in the GSI 24v and the Diamond once the 3.7 race is finished.

I must admit the Irmscher C40SE engine feels very much like my old E36 M3.

Maybe next time, was with my sister + family in her zafira, we went to the abbey.  My mum and dad have a caravan just down the road Smiley

When you had it painted did you not think about deleting the wiper off the tailgate?  Planning on doing this to mine because I think it looks alot cleaner without.
