Picked it up today. In a bit of a state at the moment, interior is full of what was the windscreen which has been turned to dust and covered every square inch of the inside. Engine sounds amazing having had a top end rebuild with chains etc(Made me dribble). Damage from the collision with a large branch quite bad but looking at the condition of the rest of the car and what it would need it will be broken for spares. All parts will be avaliable(soon) with the exception of the interior Tongue. That will have a new home in the CDX. It will be a real shame to bust it for spares as I LOVE this model and always wanted one, only not like this Embarrassed.

Roof pulled downwards on the drivers side from the b pillar and the screen pillars really need replacing with a couple of new sections stitch welding in, which I'm not to sure about. The door frames have had a fair old thump and have distorted but should repair. There are also a fair amount of scabs showing through and the thought of another Carlton slowly being consumed by worm is too much, one forth road bridge is enough for anyone Grin, and thats before I have looked underneath, the a-panels and bulkhead along with the other known areas. This could easily run into a couple of thousand to make good again, or I make the one I have a little better and more comfy. But having said that once I've shook the windscreen from the interior and had a good old poke around its still a breaker at the moment. Since I arrived home I can't seem to stop myself thinking about that engine(dribbledribblewibblewibble Tongue) and how nice it sounds. I know that if I drove it I would look at things  differently.

Not as bad as I thought it would be but if it were me and I had the space I'd use as a parts donor to keep the other one going Smiley

I would always give a car a second chance, espesly the upcoming rarity of the Diamond edition. gotta be worth a go, but if you cant, at least you tried, tho then you're also have a complete spare donor car for yours like LB said Wink

I took my other Carlton to the bodyshop today and after having a chat with the chap that runs it he says the damage on the Diamond is easily repairable an will not involve the cutting out of the pillars. He does however say the outer skin will be removed and then using his fancy Car-o-liner jig and pull it straight. It means I need to find a shell that can give up its screen pillars so he can use the outer skin to make the repair good. So I have had a change of heart and will look now at getting this back on the road.

How soon will you need the replacements?
I have two cars being broken but neither will be down to bare shell for a few weeks.

No rush for the pillars, he needs to get the other finished first I will defo have them. I'll need the pillar an part of the a-post where the outer skin of the pillar is spot welded. What do you want for them and the new rear panel. Could do with a screen as well

Took what was left of the screen out this morning and got some better pics of the damage.

The worst pillar being the drivers side.

Next job is to remove the headlining for the repairs to the pillars remove mouldings/bumpers etc ready for the repaint and look for somewhere local that can refurb the wheels at a reasonable cost
