exactly, i dont know what the big deal is,? i plodded back at 50mph on the m'way, the trailer had brakes, my rear suspension is solid uprated police spec, as you can see from the picture, or else my arse would of been dragging on the floor....anyway, its done now Wink

yeh sorry, was gona put more details on a new thread, as this one was just to show the picture of a rare sight!!!

well........ it a Senator (dah?) f-reg 89' 2.5i S6 (nice) 160k 2-3 owners i think, last owner had it since 92' and looked after it like it was his baby, got a folder full of history, regular service every 3k and every 9k... and the best part of all this.......... wait for it.......... IT WAS FREEEEEE!!!! yep a freebie, so i had to jump to the chance and go and get it.
Unfortunately the owner died not to long ago, and he had this along with a few other cars he owned.
The nephew had taken possession of his vehicles, and due to him not being able to sign on his behalf it had to go free to save any legalities.
This car was used untill 2003 where a volvo replaced it as a daily, and had been stored since i picked it up.

some more pics:

his nephew and paul (colorado from vodc) in this pick getting it ready to go.

BAD POINTS:
both rear arches had been repaired, but not to a high standard and have started to go again, quite badly:

open the rear doors and the arches are just as bad if not worse, but i think can be sorted.
as usual the sills have started to go, havent given it a good look yet but at a glance, they can be sorted too.
driver's side rear chassis rail has got some flakeyness starting, but ok.
passenger side bulkhead has a hole, has let a small amount of water in the footwell.

on the upside, its quite good in all other places, and its a runner!! some knocking but it has been stored for 8 years.

if it stops rainning here i will go get my jack out and have a better look at things.

overall, pleased of course, any condition im pleased as it was free after all Wink

it will indeed Kevin.

1st things 1st... im looking to get the mot very soon, fortunately its still registered as SORN, see how it is as a daily, then see how other issues pan out and then put the plan in action...

ooooooo the mystery is compelling.... lol

inside is now fully stripped of its contents, except the main dash. so i could see how it is underneath. the whole floor is very clean indeed. the hole in the bulkhead is fair. not a hard fix for an experienced welder. my other senny suffers from the same illness.
I have a feeling the interior has had a few bits out and put back a few times, as some dash parts and centre console have a few cracks that wouldnt of accured on their own. odd screws for the left and rights on an appliance, and the tips are abit used where someone apart from vauxhall when they put it together on its birth day have had a go at them. but apart from all that, its in ok nik.

apart from whats stated ie: arches, sills and the rail, there aint alot of rust on the bodywork.
tomorrow is ''under the car'' day, to further inspect, then hopfully the day after is ''engine bay'' day

Nice save! Manual too Smiley

Depending on when you passed your test (pre/post98) means that technically you shouldnt tow over 750kgs total either!

But anyhow, its your responsibility to work out if its legal or not Wink

Interested to see the plans unfurl Smiley

[ fortunately its still registered as SORN,

Be careful
DVLA cancel the SORN when a the ownership changes and the new owner has to make a new declaration. They dont make this clear but fine you for not doing it.

When I got my estate car from Diplomat a few months back it had just been sorned, I put it in my name and didnt worry, nearly 2 months later I read about this and checked online and sure anough it was not Sorned, I made the declaration and they sent me a youve been breaking the law message, we might come to get you.
They didnt but as far as I understand after about 2 months they fine you, luckily I SORNed it just before this and got away with it.

It is worse than that.

I bought a car, tried to sorn it, but you cant until you are the registered keeper.

Not long after the V5 came through, so did a fine. As i did not Sorn the car between the time i had bought it and the time it took the V5 to arrive.

I spoke to the DVLA about this and the agreed i was correct, that i couldn't declare sorn until i had the V5. Still had to fight the fine though.
