Am I the only TC member in south Wales?

« on: February 01, 2011, 07:16:34 PM »

Greetings one and all from south Wales. Some of you will know me from VODC.

For those that don't know, I've got a mk3 2.0 Diplomat. Had the car 28 months and its one of the family. Its standard apart from its badged as an Opel Omega.

Welcome to TC mate - you'd best get some pics up, the natives get restless pretty quick over here.

I got mine from Ebay.de - cost me about a tenner for the bonnet badge IIRC.

Thanks for the welcome peeps. I have to work out how to post pics. I got photobucket but I don't seem to be able to find a way of posting pics. Tried it on vodc unsuccessfully.

Howdy Mitch. I was on here before but the BlackBerry wouldn't/couldn't show pics or no head nor tail on here. The navigation was gash so I thought fk it. Now I've got the htc desire hd, the interweb is so much better. In case you are wondering why you ain't seen much of me on the VODC, its because its slow. Its only happening on there and no other sites. Why, I dunno. As for photobucket, I'm having no joy. I can't seem to be sble to get pics from there onto here or the VODC. I've had to give up as it was doing me head in. I guess there's some parts of this modern technology that isn't meant for me.

Thanks for the pics Mitch. Much appreciated.

The blanking plate under the head unit has been replaced with the 6 pack for cassette storage. As the car still has the original radio cassette head unit with 10 disc cd changer in the boot, I thought the cassette storage is a good period accessory. I still like to play tapes as well ad cds.

The offside front wing and doors could do with fresh paint as there's a scab or two of surface rust on them. There is a small hole near the trim on the top of the offside door. Also the C pillar needs sorting as its got a dent, courtesy of a parking barrier. I know it ain't going to win no concours prizes, but when I see newer cars looking worse than my (almost) nineteen year old barge, I take hope. Paula has said that I love the car more than her. I've told her that the only reason she shares a bed with me is because I can't get my Carlton into the bedroom.

I know it ain't going to win no concours prizes,

it doesnt have to, its still running!! thats the most impressive important bit of the story..

my carlton has only ever been washed once in the two years iv had her now, and that was for billing last year. But.... the arches are going, sills (the usual) plenty of twig scrapes down the passenger side, as i travel through country lanes alot, basically ruff looking, but it runs (well not at the moment, ''what a contradiction'') but you know what i mean...

and im not even gona start with the Senator, but bottom line, she runs... sweet...

Paula has said that I love the car more than her. I've told her that the only reason she shares a bed with me is because I can't get my Carlton into the bedroom.

haha  Cheesy

Mine gets a waxing and detailing every three months as I don't want the scabby bits getting worse. The leather seats get cleaned and conditioned every quarter also. In between it has a rinse off, including under the wheel arches etc.

In the past the rear arches have been done, and they are still solid. However, the nearside rear sill end needs a bit of welding. The same place on the offside was welded two years ago.
