oil depends on what you "do" with the car most of our more aggressive use valvoline vr1 20/50 racing oil some use 15/40 semi 10/40 tbh seems a bit thin for an engine that has done 172000 miles thb i would use the vr1 (i do anyway in my 12 valve)

I found a reasonable Comma oil that was dirt cheap, had 'ok' specs and was 15/50 which suited me as I drop my oil out after every track piece of track time, and I couldnt afford to do that at £45 for 5 litres. Sadly I think theyve discontinued it now

I may have misunderstood, but...
You surely havent drilled holes in the airbox on the side that is after the filter? Meaning that your filter money may as well have been set on fire as the air doesnt need to go through it any more.
I must be mistaken, please put my mind at rest.

All 6cyl Carlton/Senators had two pipes into the back box.
Downpipe is 2 pipes from the manifolds into 1 then back to 2 into the cats. After cats is 2 seperate pipes each with a silencer mid way into single back box.

after a nice trip to collect an exhaust from a very helpfull memeber the trip back was evntfull .. first the petrol pipe split right on an ilsand .. then there was a woble at the back end ...yea forgot to do wheel nuts up after changing alloy ...then she decided she didnt want to run properly in a jam on the m5.. smacked the fuel relay and it was ok lol .. still was worth the trip and me and my lovely other half had a good shop and meal so alls good .. and again thanks to dave the builder ..
