i have changed the fuse for the cruise controll and adjusted the cable which was very slack.the cruise is still dead as a door nai, i was wondering if there is any way of telling if the problem lies with the stalk, the actuator or the chip which i believe is located behind the glove box.thought i would ask i am pretty useless with electrics

Save yourself some effort.
Its the control ECU - it always is!

Unfortunately a working one is a real rarity now but there is a solution - have a look through the forum and you'll find some instructions on how to retrofit a cruise control system from an Omega.  Go to the scrappy, fit it and cruise.

Not sure if you have checked but the clutch switch maybe fubarred, if this is so, then the cruise won't work. Wink

An auto will have a relay which is located behind the fuse box instead of a clutch switch.

Not always. I've done the electrical tests on mine & it shows as being fine so I think mine is the relay/clutch switch but I've just not got round to laying upside down with my legs over the back of the drivers seat to get to it. Yes pm1038 it is a pain to get to as it sits behind & slightly above the fuse box so although it doesn't sound it, it is easiest to go out at from below in the style I just said but still a bit of a ball ache!  Roll Eyes
