i have a digi dash for a carlton and was wondering if its as easy to fit to standered models as the astra gte ones were ?/ done loads of conversions for nova's cavi's mk 3 astra's even a mk 3 cavi .. as long as you had the trannsponder in box .. is carlton have the same speedo set up etc ? though i would ask before starting the cutting  Wink

you wont find it so easy with the carlton

the main issue is the rev counter will read oddly and you wont have the oil pressure sender in your engine im sure there are other issues but cant think of them atm

Unlike the very nice Astra digital clockset, the Carlton/Senator one lights up kinda pink.

Pink = gay.
People who actually like them must read OK!, Hello and other pointless magazines and probably like the Porsche. Shocked Shocked Shocked

No man should ever have to suffer this sad and frankly, girly fiasco.

GM cocked up  - the bloke who designed them needs a sound thrashing and the committee who said 'Ooh, that looks nice, goes with my nail polish - let's go with it' need to be tied up and publicly flogged.

ok im probably going to go to hell but , . .. i like the digi dash lol.   also , if its that bad - had anyone tried putting a astra gte on into a carlton Huh would it be easy to switch from my digi in my 24v gsi to the gte??? hmmm

as for the cav mk2 with one in, my bro has a mk2 cav sri which he's been building it into a monster for the past 5 years and its awsome, thats got the astra digi in it.

and i remember the days of my mk2 golf and you could get a digi dash for those called a digifiz - think you might find one on german ebay - wonder if you could make that fit lol

Someone did away with the 'pinkness' of the bulb filters - used cool white cold cathode tube, I think.

It might have been Jonny Bear, but it's on here somewhere.

Being honest, it looked good.

Still tells you lies though! Wink

They are as easy to fit into a Nova or whatever as the Astra units, pedro is a hater!!

Wiring the same as the astra conversion, same with the transponder. Oil pressure gauge isn't essential to work, but if you want it just screw on in as normal.

4-pot engine?? No worries I know a guy who produces pulse converters which can make the rev counter read correctly. These can also be used for fine tuning of the speedo.

I did a white conversion on one using a cold cathode tube.

I love em, and I think you forgot to take your pink glasses off Pete, I cant see any pink in mine, its more amber coloured.

I have to admit that the point about them being unreliable is true in my experience, and not easy to fix once broken.
I could do with a spare as mine has a few faults and I derent touch it in case I kill it off altogether (like the last one)

I still like them though, big old dials are for Grandads, straight manly Grandads perhaps but Grandads all the same. Tongue

lol at all the replies   i used to fit gte ones all the time and even did a right up of how to do it in total vauxhall lol and to be fair used to do them in about half an hr .. but degenrative forgetfulness has set in and cannot remember how now .. still i'm sure the haynes manual will have the same wiring stuff as the astra manuals .. might have a go ..after i find the transponder details for speedo etc as for bulbs total vauxhall did a nova and it had a digi dash which was ice blue and white !!  and sooooooooooooo proud to be a gay grandad pmsl  Wink
