Does TC have their own stand/marquee??

Well im a member of the VODC too, and have gone under them with a fair few other members from here on TC who are members of VODC too, and we camp together and wave the TC flag high on the stand.

If the TC t-shirts come through, il wear mina all weekend, but if its as hot as it was last year, may have to convert it to a vest, ha ha

Am I the only TC member in south Wales?

I haven't got pics of mine on here yet. Gotta work it out. Tried using photobucket to get pics onto the VODC forum and it wouldn't work. I do the interweb malarkey on a htc desire hd fone as I don't have a pc or laptop.

I don't think TC will have its own stand at Billing. There's a few on here, myself included, that are also on the VODC forum that does have its own stand at Billing.

Cool, I'll keep my eye out this year for you then (hopefully I'll be with the Carly!!)

And hey......if it's too hot this year even for a vest you could always get a TC tattoo!!!  Grin

Cheers, Kevinfourlegs, yeah, I used to frequent the Autobahnstormers stand at Billing a few years ago when I first started the restoration, but not been down there for about four years now, I should be there this year with or without the Carly (hopefully with), so I will see you all down there.

P.s: sorry again for the mix up with you and Charlie12!!

Cheers carlton_mad, I'll pay a visit to both stands for a chat with you guys. I'm aware that if I get the Carly done, I'll have become a member of either club to show her on the stand, but I'll play that one by ear.

The amount of work you have put into that is simply staggering Catho, fair play to you if you do use it, i'd be scared to!

If you keep it in that condition it surely will be a future investment Cool

Thanks Land-Barge (love the name), Would be nice if it held its value as I know these cars are a rare sight these days. Will definitely use it, but as an everyday car 365 days a year is yet to be decided. I drive a 5 Series BMW at the moment, might have to downsize to a more economical everyday car when I get the GSi back on the road.

As the Carlton GSi gets rarer, and ones like this, even rarer, there's only one way for the values to go. They've been cheap for far too long. Had there been a blue oval on the badge, not a griffin or blitz, they would be fetching higher prices.

Footnote.
I've owned both a Manta and a Capri. The Manta is a better car than the Capri in my opinion. So why is the Capri dearer than a Manta these days? They ain't nowt special.

Sorry, don't mean to hijack your thread!

Hijack away mate, that's what these posts are all about, great chatting with like-minded folk. I've never owned a Ford, but have friends who love them, and have very nice examples of Mk2 Escorts, (I'll always remember my mate doing an engine swap on his Escort 1300 sport..........when it was parked on the road!!!! crazy days  Cheesy (in our teenage days when it was acceptable to turn your street into an open workshop and under floodlights as it got dark!!) I had a drive in a friends' 2.8ltr Capri, it was quick, but the brakes were terrible (I may aswell just stuck my foot out the door and used my feet to stop!!) but loved the way the huge bonnet used to rise up above the windscreen view when you accelerated. I went to see CraigP yesterday, he has two Monzas (opel's equivalent to the Capri I guess, along with the Manta) I've fallen in love with the Monza now too, but first thing's first, got to get the Carly back on the road and continue my love affair with her  Grin

Very true L-B, but they were great programmes back in the day, so we'll forgive them (besides, I'll bet with all that abuse Bodey & Doyle gave that Capri and Escort, the producers had to replace the gearbox/diff on every shoot!!!)  Cheesy Cheesy

They certainly did and Ford were prepared to repair and replace any vehicle at any cost as long as their cars were on prime time, unlike BL who tried to limit the cars used on the first Proffessionals series, hence the change to Ford

Come to think of it, I remember hearing/reading that somewhere, God, can you imagine how many BL cars they'd have got through....especially 70's BL cars!!!!!!  Cheesy

To be fair, I didn't/don't have commitments like a lot of folk probably have on here (children, nagging wife etc...) and like some guys here, I don't have 3 or 4 cars around my neck, just the one (two including my everyday drive) so I can commit more time to the restoration, although it has been on hold for the last past 4/5 years whilst I sorted a new house out. In that time though I think the Carlton has become an even rarer car on our roads!!
