Wires round fuel tank

When I changed my tank I noticed these black wires that don't seem to go anywhere apart from half way round the tank. What are they for? They are dangling down and I was wondering if you can remove them.

Yeah pretty sure... They have 2 kind of barrel type connectors in the middle. The only thing I can think is that they are some sort of safety device relating to the fuel tank.

The only connectors of that description I can think of are for the ABS sensors.

I don't think they are the ABS or number plate wires. The connectors are black.
I will take some pics when I'm next under it.
