its a non air con car ! :-) so i may be in luck lol.

if i look at the system under the scuttle there is a large black plug with a few wires, under it there are 2 spade connector things - im guessing one is live and one is earth and there is a resistory thingy bob in the middle of them .

what do i do then :-)

Remove windscreen wipers

Remove scuttle panel cover

Remove wiper motor assembly

Unclip and lift fan blade cowlings

Two self tappers and you should be able to extract the pack - motor will lift up with it but not come out

You'll need a wire joining block (chocolate block)

Cut the thermal overload resistor in half at the middle of the blob

Break the ceramic away till you are left with two wire ends

Join the two with the chocolate block

Insulate from contact with any metal parts or damp

Repacement is the opposite of removal (as they say)

It sounds fairly easy, but you'll end up with very scratched and sore knuckles. All the best

You can remove the resistor pack without removing any of the above.

Ive done it as described before but when mine gave up last week and it was freezing outside I did it like this -

Pull off the rubber strip that keeps the flimsy plactic cowl down and seals against the bonnet.
Lift up the front of the cowl and work through the gap.
Pull off the wires, plug and 2 wires to fan.
Push resistor pack upwards to unclip the top then down to unclip the bottom then ease it out, its fiddly but comes out.
Repair or replace and reverse the above.

Its tight but it took maybe 10 minutes on a freezing evening when to do it the long way would have had my fingers useless with cold.

That's the way I've done it before - top marks, Chris!

Had this problem on mine. Vauxhall no longer stock the resistor pack, or so they told me. I had my resistor pack sorted by a sparky for £25 and had a working heater blower ever since
