I think I have found the fault; well the car is running fine.

I found an intermittent break in the wiring to the coil. A few inches back from the two pin plug.

Since fixing this it has run fine. Time will tell.

One thing I have noticed though is how loud my fuel pump is. You don’t really hear it in the car but you do when working around the car.

Are these easy to get hold of and change? Mine is an in tank pump.

Thanks

Congratulations Smiley fifty years in electronics taught me to dread intermittent faults Cry

You just have to keep at it until you find the tricky little sucker Wink

Personally, I would only replace with new on an item like the fuel pump.

The worst part of replacing it is making sure that the tank is sufficiently drained and a new gasket is probably advisable.

Are the in tank pumps the same as the external pumps or did I click on the wrong link.

Cheers

Anyone know what the part number would be?

Thanks

the pump is stamped :

BOSCH 0 580 453 935
12V (937) 164 25 MADE IN FRANCE

I priced a new pump about 2 years ago at £150+  Shocked
other part numbers here

If it's running ok now then hold fire on buying a new pump, they are noisey anyway.

if you bypass the fpr and listen to the pump close to the tank without the engine running you may get a better idea .

if it's running noisey but smooth then it should be ok, if it sounds like it's stalling now and again ,then a replacement may be needed .

same pump as cav and calibra IIRC

good luck   Wink
