Any idea why this would be?   It cant be right surely?   even when locked up its the same...

I can go indoors and go out to it later on and its still illuminated...

I doubt its the cause but ive been having some slightly slow cranking since this cold weather set in... And would like to eliminate any overnight drain on the battery.

Im going to give it a check over monday anyway,  And top the battery up if needed...   Also gonna check the earths to the block and make sure its all good....

Mine are the same but the LED's in the switches are such a low draw that they have never caused me any problems.

Realy?   the interior light works on all doors and go's off after a few seconds..  But the switches stay on.

When you switch off the ignition the electric windows switch off. Then when you open the the door the windows become live again so you can use them without the ignition on. I'd say you've got a wire going to ground between the earth switches and the electric window module which if my memory service me right is in the passengers footwell behind the kick panel. There is a right mass of wires down here and I wouldn't be surprised if some moisture hasn't gotten in after all this time.

Had this on my old GSi and if the car was left for a week the battery would be flat. It turned out to be the switches them self. Replaced them with a spare set and no problem after that

Supercub. Your not far from me. Fancy putting the kettle and I'll pop on over. You know to heads better than one etc. You could even try the switches out of mine.

The pass side switch assembly incorporates a small bit of electronic circuitry which is supposed to energize all the switches & LED's when driver's door is open. Trouble is the switching transistor no longer switches...it just goes to permanent conduction, hence the flat battery problem, the fix is to replace the assembly.

My old one had a switch added to the dash that would switch these off, I never had any idea why someone had done it, now I know.

This switch that no longer switches...  Is it poss to fix at home?   Im pretty handy with a soldering iron , Im not scared of electrics once i get my head round the diagram  Cheesy   Would prefer to give it a go just for the hell of it... Cheesy

You would need a very fine soldering iron because the transistors are tiny little surface mount devices and I'm not sure that the circuit diagram accurately reflects exactly what is inside the switch.

You would then have to identify a replacement, bearing in mind that surface mount transistor markings are somewhat obscure Sad
