hi there. sadly i have not registered due to a massive love of the carlton but to help a friend out in moving along a project he has.(lotus replica with a courtenay turbo conversion)

thought i'd take the time to introduce myself though.

i am a vw man through and through (thick skinned too so fire away with the insults!) i drive a mk2 golf gti and have a "rat rod" beetle project on the back boiler if anyone cares!

i live in north lincolnshire and remap/chip ecu's

anyway, had a read ofr the forum rules so i am heading off to the for sale section!

see you there and thanks for reading.

Thanks for the welcomes.

We can remap just about anything with an e.c.u. Although most pre 2000 cars will need a chip replacement rather than doing it through the diagnostic port.

We have done plenty of gsi's vxr's and sri's with cracking results, as well as 1.3 corsa cdti's! they actually respond pretty well!

There's a couple of us that need the ecu from the 2.6 remapped.
The 2.6 ecu doesnt respond too well to de-cat pipes apparently (very lean at WOT) so a remap is needed for that, and I'm planning a 3.0 12v running the 2.6's dual ram and loom. One option there is to use the ecu from the 24v but that will run rich so again - remap will be needed.

with the risk of turning this into an advert, have a look at www.map-tech.co.uk and fill out the contact form. or email gareth@map-tech.co.uk he is the head tech and could help better than I. just mention this forum and my name (dave). we tend to do discounts for forum members

I'll have to get mine back from Will Reeve. He's had that for over 3 years now and still not responding.
Could use that as a trial if you like. Get that one done then distribute for use as a trial to those thinking of getting it done, sort of try before you buy if you know what I mean.

I have a spare too Jon.
I'm planning on using a 24v one pro tem so the original is surplus to requirements.

had a quick chat with gareth last night.

the programmer we use to write the maps can tweak things to keep everything sweet throughout the rev range but ideally to do this properly it needs to be done on a rolling road. the problem that creates with a vehicle of the carlton's age is that the ecu will need to be removed, dismantled and the chip changed each time a different setting is tried.

if an ecu already exists with a suitable map on, it would be possible to copy those settings though  Wink
