ok just cos ive had a look the springs off the omega in comparison to the carlton items are about 10 mm shorter (front) but they are of a higher rating cos of the extra weight!!! the rear springs are identical to look at but are again uprated .........................so chaps the way to make your 2.0 carlton handle a bit better is to get omega items happy modding

That's right, I've got Omega rear springs on my Carlton Estate.

When I went to buy a pair of new rear springs for the Carlton, I was given the choice of the standard ones or the heavy duty ones. The heavy duty Carlton springs are the same part number as the standard Omega ones (& slightly cheaper by a few quid for some reason) Roll Eyes

I had a pair of heavy duty springs on my 24v, they were the only ones my local place could get.  They made the car look like some 1970's hot rod it rode so high at the back.  I swapped them with the springs from my scrap 24v & it sits properly now!!

That's interesting, I thought that fitting the heavy duty springs to the Carlton Estate would make it sit up at the back end, but it was the same height as it was with the old springs - & one of those was broken in the usual place at the bottom end!

Springs, my 24v gsi's are the opel derivative , rhd too , apparently the omega gsi springs are slightly lower and about 15 % or a little more stiffer,an aquaintance of mine who immigrated here to nz after he retired worked at opel as a development engineer told me that 91-93 omega 24v gsi's had the same spec springs and shocks as the evo 500 ,which does'nt suprise me as one of mine has 110,000km and the other155,000km with untouched original suspension (apart from a few camber tweaks) and are still very stiff in the suspension .Also for those of you wich have lowered your carltons and have excessive rear neg camber there are some aftermarket urathane calibra camber correction bushes availiable that will fit the rear trailing arms also an austrailian company makes some that will fit the carlton/omega and senator as soon as I get more info about them I will post it on here ,Hope everyone has a great christmas .

call me crazy, but if they are a much higher rating, surely it wont matter if they are a little shorter as it means they will make the car sit higher? as there is no weight to bring them down a touch? Or do you mean 10mm shorter when on the car?

Those Calibra camber bushes will help but not solve the problem, they were used on the special edition 'DTM' calibras which were 25mm lower as standard, so compensate these bushes were designed. However a 40mm drop on a Calibra or carlton can still be too much even with the bushes fitted.

The only real way to sort the problem is by modifying the subframe mounting mounts for the arms.
