hi im adelle i live near nottingham i have a carlton cdi auto 89 model ive had her ten years she is mint but has been in my garage for 6 years for a tidy up and a change from auto to manual and a little power hike by fitting the ekotek ?engine from an omega as the original engine is tired  i have been searching for parts and thats what has led me to this site hi all  x

hi and welcome to the mighty T.C.
the ecotec has 11 bhp more than your 20se but the flywheel weighs a hell of a lot more than the carlton one AHAH i hear you cry ill use the carlton one!!!............no im afraid not the carlton uses a 6 bolt fixing the eco uses 8 also the eco is a royal pain in the bum to keep running well they tend to drop cam sensors at an alarming rate!!
instead look at the 20xe or c20xe these are 150 bhp more user friendly and no sensor issues the main drawback in using the xe is you will need the wiring loom lengthened a tad!! (and its better to get a later engine with the coil pack for clearance) not that ive ever considered doing this myself of course!!

wow thanks for the replies i will indeed look at the xe route now as my fella says there a much better engine and with the flywheel bolting issue it would make more sense thanks guys

thanks for the welcomes  will get some pics up soon just figuring out the welding looks like dash is going to have to come out as bulkhead is pretty thin and rust peppered cheers adelle.
