I have decided to get rid of my Carlton. Too much is wrong with the car and I can't justify carrying out all this work on a car worth maybe 500 at a push afterwards. I'm open to offers. I'm after a 1.0 car so am open to offers.

I've completed the following:
Fitted a new water pump and cam belt.
Fitted electric fan to radiator with kenlowe switch.
Welded up N/S front inner wheelarch and footwell.
Welded up but not cosmetically finished O/S rear wheelarch.
Oil, both filters and complete ignition replaced.
   Fitted new anti-roll bar links.
   Nearly new wishbones fitted.
   Coolant changed

Work to do:
Both rear chassis rails need welding.
Small amount of welding to do in O/S front chassis rail.
O/S rear wheel arch and rear of sill need replacing.
Small amount of welding needed in boot floor and needs towbar removing
   for this.
Rear quater panels need welding up but below air vents.
Clutch needs replacing as release bearing noisy.
Front struts need replacing as a bit bouncy.
Anti roll bar bushes need replacing.
   Rear donuts need replacing.
   Handbrake backplates needs sorting out.
Corrosion on rear brake pipes and fuel pipes.
Camshaft needs replacing as worn out.
   Rear windows don't work.
   Whining diff.

Spares:
   3 piece clutch kit.
   Rear donuts
   New GM front struts.
   Anti roll bar bushes.

Sorry to see you're selling her Rich.
I f I could I'd buy her back... but then you'd still end up welding her up! Cheesy

O no, with the work already done on it, thought you might hold out and finish her off.....  Undecided

I think it's all the welding it needs that's worrying him Rich.... but IMHO it would be well worth doing.
To me, the car wouldnt be fixed up in  order to sell on so the retail value of the car when done becomes irrelevant, and you would have one of the very very few solid Voyagers left on the road.

Hey guys,

It's not the welding Murph, it's the fact that nearly everything is worn out on the car as well as the tin worm.
I just need a car that works right now and the Voyager needs loads of work doing to it. TBH, I like Carltons but to me is is just a worn out 21 year old 2.0 litre estate. I've tried to persuade myself that I should fix it but if I were to invest a substantial amount of time restoring a car it would be a Dolomite Sprint, not an old estate.

Rich, A big old car that drinks petrol isn't what I want as a daily driver at the moment. If I was going to have a restored car to enjoy at the weekend it would be something older than a Carlton. Got a nice VX4/90 or a Firenza Droop-snoot anyone?
