This time, head wins over heart, so I've bought a V*ctra.
Yes, yes, I know I've berated them in the past, but that's the Vectra B - the C is alot better.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... _962wt_930

Only thing is, a smoker had it last, and it stinks inside.
Leather cleaner should help - any other ideas?

Similar to mine, except mine's a later cdti one, arguably your better off with the dti, nice motor.

Although a bit down on torque and bhp compared to the 1.9 CDTi 150 (roughly the same as the 1.9 CDTi 120 though), the 2.2 doesn't have the DMF and inlet issues that the 150 has.

Well, I'm gonna stick with it for a couple of years or until it blows up, so I hope I like it too!

what sort of mpg you getting from it?

On a run to work, better roads, 44 miles there, 44 miles home, spirited driving - 29 -30.
Otherwise, 32 - 34 ish. Bit of a guess cos there's always a bloody jam/tailback where the A64 goes from dual to single carriageway.
Up hill and down dale, 26 miles there, 25 miles home, sprited driving - 30 - 32.
Otherwise not a clue! Grin

From York to Billing, 3/4 loaded with all the camping gear (quite alot if you saw the tent and gubbins!), then into Northampton for shopping, back to York with gear all told over 350 miles - about £50 in fuel. Never looked at computer at the time, so no rea idea of MPG but at 114pence (ish) per litre, I'll let you do the maths!
I didn't think that was bad, and it underlines the design and playground of this long distance cruiser.

Roundabout 70K miles, the DMF self destructs! About a grand to replace, but with better than standard parts.
Can't remember the inlet system issues, but I remember it costing in the region of £500, plus the EGR gets sooted up or otherwise fubar and needs cleaning or replacing.
You have to remember that this is an Italian (Fiat) engine - great for power and speed, but doesn't last too long!
Have a scout on www.vectra_c.com or VXON.

I think the dpf is only on the signums and estates, also there's the 3rd injector loom that often needs replacing but i think with these issues they improved over time, fiat - Fix It All Tomorrow

Errrr, why would it not affect the saloon or hatchback then?
A DMF (Dual Mass Flywheel) would be used on all body variations, would it not?
Obviously this discounts the automatic variants.

Picked the Vectra up tonight, slung £30 of oil in it and drove 40 miles at various speeds  - still only used 0.6 gallons.
Looked at 80 and it was doing a reported 54.2mpg. How accurate that is, I don't know, but it'll do for me, Tommy!

The car has a very, very good sound system - as good as the Bose in the Elite if my ears are working properly - the seat appears comfy enough, although the MV6 seat is more comfy.
It handles predictably as an FWD car should, clutch, steering and throttle are very user-friendly and the dials are nice and clear.
the whole interior has a feel of much better quality than a Carlton/Senator or omega - but then it should, being alot newer.
The mid-range grunt from 2000 to 4000 rpm is pretty impressive too.

Just gotta get rid of that God-awful stink of fag smoke now and I reckon I'll be fairly happy with it as a daily driver.
Oh, I love the colour too! Cool
