The Diamond passed the Mot yesterday with a few advisories.

Going to strip all the running gear off over the weekend in readiness for the new bits

All the advisories are going anyway...

Removed the engine and box over the weekend - Hard bit done.

Passenger side front rail needs some attention !

Tell me what's different about this Front Cross member for a 3L 24v

It's not thats it painted or the engine mounts.

Have you run a constant seam round the whole lot? You usually should do short runs with gaps to stop cracks propagating.

I did this on my 145BHP Mini - But totally seam welded, once you've experienced a subframe pulling the welds out of a corned once, you don't want it a second time.

There are some gapes, but not on the touching plates.

This is not going anywhere.

I'm building this car on my own personnel experiences with the Mini, not what the manual says.

I have complete confidence in Motopanza, who does my welding.  He did the restoration on my 12v, worked on my 24v and is doing the welding and body work on the Diamond.

He knows what he's doing and is a great positive guy to work along side.

If I ask and he thinks it not right/safe he'd argue the point or refuse to do it.
