I have found that WD40 has far less permanence than 3-in-one so by all means, use 3-in-one Wink

so not WD40, but 3in1......?? yeh? lol. Any good particular 3in1 i should use??

OK - as I see it, WD40 is a decent product, no doubt about it, BUT it thins oil...... like thinners thins paint.

On it's own and used as it's recommended for hinges, screw threads etc, it's great stuff as it is so thin it "creeps" into things  - but to lubricate things that have close tolerances, it's not as good as an oil with a thicker viscosity.

In the case of the ICV, too thick  a lube like engine oil could actually impair the moving parts, causing friction stresses and strains within itself and transferring these forces to the moving parts. Perhaps the moving parts might not be able to cope with the extra forces incurred..

3-in-1 is a great compromise. It will stay in the ICV longer than WD40 ever could without causing too much friction and stresses on the parts.

Its a damn good rust penetrator also for freeing seized bolts (give it a couple of days with repeated application and it's magic Wink)

Oil - you only need 2/3 drops. Wink

Saying that, you could use spray then blow out with airline. There would still be enough in there to do the job.
For the life of me, I can't think why an oil could be better in a spray form...............

.............just got used to skweezy Heinz Tomato Ketchup and spray vinegar!
