Hi people,
Im more a stalker on this website than a member as i just seem to scroll through the pages for hours on end as my old man has a 24v gsi and it devolped an intrest in them for me.
However at the moment hes having a problem and i was wondering if you could help!!
The pin in his fuel door that operates off the central locking system keeps sticking from time to time. Making re fueling a bit of a nightmare, Hes worried that itll just seize one day and he will have to rip it open, He has tryed good old wd40 and that hasnt worked.
Now in my old VW i remember there was a sort of manuel over ride in the boot that you could just pull incase the locking failed and it opened the fuel door. I was just wondering if you new of such a thing on the carlton??
 Cheers guys
 Ash

Oh yea sorry for mentioning another car maker... Ive now seen the error of my ways and drive a Vauxhall... Its a vectra but hey im half way there!!

there isnt a manual release but if you go in the boot and remove the carpet trim from the side you can see the motor for the fuel flap funnily enough i was talking to murph saying that we havent ever heard of the fuel flap solenoid ever going wrong but we kept the one from the spare parts bin anyway!! what area you in may be able to sort somthing out !

As said, just pull the lining to one side and you can operate the locking motor with one finger; I do it at every fill up Wink

Mine sticks now and again - I just pull the flap anyway.

If it rips of, it rips off.........

Cheers Chris!!

I have disconnected my filler cap lock...it kept sticking. Keep meaning to take it off and oil it or somthing.

Ash, I am up near Cullompton off J28 of the M5.  It would be nice to see another GSi parked out side my house!

Excellent!

Mine should be back tomorrow all MOT'd!

Id love to see the wifes face with them both parked outside.  Mine needs a respray! Lacquer coming off wings and some chuffing funt scratched the bonnet and poured I dont know what over the boot!  Angry
