100 amp nators were gsi only iirc jonny but i do have some good spare standard ones you can try if you want when you get down or try getting a new rectifier pack and stick it in!!!

Standard with Ac is 90. No Ac is 75 (maybe70 can't remember) but there are 65,80's and 110's I've never heard of a 100 but dosen't mean there isn't one. As for getting only 9volts. Are you running a obscene amount of gizzmos in the car or do you think the alt is brown bread?

had 3 carltons with a/cand all had 70 amp bosch units so wanted to upgrade.

Im running digidash, and with my lights rear screen and heated seats and blowers on the digi dash does a dance, and my head lamps dim. Ive got a 670 cca battery on the car thinking that may cover my problems,

does the brush pack on the bottom of the bosch alternator control that amound of amps it produces ?

If i could try one of of yours at some pint or possibly buy one then it would be much appreciated,

Ps mr mad, i installed the automatic loom and guess what the car started straight away ! i thought there had to be jiggery pokery with wires ?

They must use a bigger alternator on the 6 bangers then.

According to TIS there is not an alternator bigger than 90 amps specified for the Carlton and that needs a different belt pulley.

There is a total confusion of part numbers regarding the types and makes of alternator in TIS and I really can not make much sense of it Roll Eyes

Haynes avoids giving any information regarding the type of alternator; they probably couldn't make much sense of it either Roll Eyes

It does seem however that with the 90 Amp alternator it will only output 90 Amps at 6000 RPM (rotor speed) and about half that at 2000 RPM and is not much better than the 70 Amp at medium engine speeds Sad

I would guess that the faster you can drive the alternator at medium engine speeds the higher the output current, so a smaller pulley would be an advantage ?

My 2.6 Diplomat with air con. has the 90 Amp unit fitted.

There seem to be a number of 120 Amp alternators for sale on ebay, they all seem to use serpentine belt pulley wheels !

Before using one of these, I think it would be wise to look at : -

1: Can they be adapted to fit ?

2: Compare the current output/rotor speed graph with your
    present alternator.

If the current output is little different from your present one at average engine speeds, the money and effort fitting it would be wasted Sad
