Mr Easter Bunny's idea (the real one no less!)
Please post in here when and if you see a Carlton in your local scrappy.
Don't forget to include the model/trim level ie 2.6 estate or 2.0 saloon dippy.

Cheers y'all!

I'll kick it off by reporting:

Silver Carlton CD 2.0i K Reg Saloon was still there on 12 Nov 09

G & E Carbreakers
Jackson St, Haydock, St. Helens, WA11 0AZ
Tel: 01744 730088

Resonable prices, good old fashioned scrappers where you can just walk in, have a rummage and pull the bits off yourself or they will take off for you for a small fee.

Very muddy in places so take boots / wellies Smiley

I can't remember the last time I saw a Carlton in a scrappy.

However, Vauxplus in Newport, Gwent are a Vauxhall breaker. 01633 420333. They take plastic and do mail order.

The last time I went to my local scrappers there was an abundance of Carltons & Senators in there (all levels too, from 1.8L's to 3.0 ltr 12valves).....unfortunately this was about six years ago... Undecided

I got everything from gas strutts for the bonnet (off a Senny), nuts bolts, switches, interior/exterior trim, to doors, mirrors and glass!!!
Six years on and I'm paying a visit to said scrappers this Saturday hoping (and praying) to find at least one Carly or Senny to see if I can get a few bits and bobs (spare nuts, bolts, washers, bulbs etc....) anything I can just stick in a pot/box that might help me out in the future.

Why didn't I think to do this six years ago I hear you ask....well, with forethought I did, I still have plastic panel bolts/bushes/plugs/caps, a lot of things that are now discontinued from Vauxhall, (even got a load of the white plastic trim pegs that keep the trim on the sill of my GSi (as I broke most of them when I stripped it!! Angry)

I used to take a pen and pad with me to draw diagrams of how things were laid out on/in/under the car, things that Mr Haynes omitted from his Bible!!

Anyway, I digress. I'll take my camera with me when I go, and post any findings on here....here's hoping!!!

I have a nasty suspicion that you're going to be VERY disappointed: 5/6 years ago was when they were all going for scrap here in the Midlands.

I've seen nothing in my local scrappies in the past 4/5 years and since there are virtually none on the road, no one wants spares, so any that do go in are virtually immediately crushed Sad

....Okay not a Carlton, but as close as I could get today, T-Reg Omega 2.5 V6 CDX.

Looked okay to be fair, the engine had been picked at, but the bodywork was in really good nick (nice colour too).

Interior was good too, although it had the interior of another car thrown in the back of it  Roll Eyes

Anyway, some pics...

Oh no, no, no, no, no.....Even Churchill (who was residing in the engine bay) couldn't save this one!!

Spent most of the day trawling scrappys looking for screen gutters Sad and one or two other bits around Leicester, Derby and Nottingham. 120 miles later and not one sodding Carlton anywhere. Even the two Vauxhall breakers in Notts said they haven't seen a Carlton for five years others just laughed and I even had one reply "a what?"(heathan) Cry

Anyway got home fired up the craptop and found some chap busting up a Dippy near Downham Market and have arranged to collect the gutters and the other bits WOOOOOHOOOOoooo. All I need now are the screen pillars from Murph.

That's where I took the pics of the Omega (above) nearest I could get to a Big Vauxhall.

The last time I went to Looms' (about five years ago) there were dozens of Sennys & Carlys (good ones too!). Glad I got what I needed when I did. Couldn't believe how new some of the 'scrap' in there was  Shocked

Stick the wheels back on some of them and you could've driven them back out!!!

Goes to show how 'disposable' cars are these days!!

Albert Loomes.............been there a few times, they have a car breaking list on their website, I'll make a note to keep an eye on it and if a Carlton or Senny appears I'll let you know.

Vauxplus in Caerleon, Newport, have just got a Carlton estate in. Apparently it was driven in. I asked what model it was and he didn't know as he hadn't seen it himself. It did have leather seats, front fog lights and had the long range headlights. Possibly a Diamond?

Tomorrow morning I am foning them, so I will find out more and hopefully I may be going to have a squint at it. If I do then I will post up any info.

Vauxplus do mail order too. Their number is 01633 420333.

Been on fone to Vauxplus. Car is complete, it drove in. The strut tops have been got at by tinworm. Dunno how good/bad rest of car is as I haven't seen it as yet.

The car has NO mot or tax, however, it is complete and driving. Take the full car for £300. Minus the tailgate struts, as I will have them.

When I've seen the car, I will post up more info. I can get pics as well.

Seen the car and it looks tidy. The boot cover, tailgate struts and both door mirrors have gone.

The front strut tops have rusted from underneath the arches. Both rear arches and door shuts look ok.

It is a 2.0 8v Diamond with manual 'box.

A certificate of destruction hasn't been issued yet, but will on Tuesday, providing nobody has bought the car.

Pics to follow.

Thanks for putting the pics up Day.

Unfortunately I haven't seen under the aerodynamic aids (Vauxhall's term for sill covers), so I dunno how good/bad it is. I did say to the bloke who drove it there from Barry, if its only the strut tops, why doesn't he repair it? To which he replied, it depends how much he was quoted for the welding.

This is the first Carlton they've had for well over a year. Says it all, doesn't it?

If anybody wants it complete ish, they have unti Tuesday to claim it.

He does mail order, or I can pick up the door cards for you Day?

I can. How do we get them to you?

They do mail order, so I dunno if it may be worth asking them to ship direct to your good self?
