2.0l GLi auto....sideways!!!

« on: July 23, 2009, 05:40:52 PM »

hi guys ,the engine management on my wee baby ,will not light and the car will not start...it was an intermittent problem (after it sat for a month in the snow), but is now permanent ..I've replace the starter coil and leads also the sparkplugs ,but still no joy..a mechanic friend of mine says it's probably the earthing straps to the engine...anybody any wiser?

please help...i won't let it rust away on my driveway...

Battery? , Earthing from battery to bodyshell,  what does work or light up?

Or is it this?

If nothing lights or turns maybe main fuse in box on passenger side turret blown.
If stuff does light up but not start maybe knackered starter?
Duff ignition switch?

If it turns over but wont start,it could be the fuel pump relay, you'll find it under the black cover in the engine bay up behind the passengers strut,My one used to do that all the time. You'll find a big black relay in there give it a good wiggle and see if you engine light comes on,then it should start.
