and air-con not working (typical as the sun is out) thought prob out of gas as compresser leaking so sent it to my man who said it's got gas in it (result) but got a wiring fault to pressure switch, fixed that £20 and all nicely chilled again Did he say what the actual fault was? I've had both my cars done, the LC was just a re-gas & change the connections but the Senny neded a new condensor & once that was fitted & re-gassed the fan wouldn't cut in when it got up to pressure. He tested the fan which would cut in with his electro-probe thingy so the fan is fine but there is a broken wire that we can't establish where it should go.

The fan doesn't cut in from the compressor switch until it reaches the overpressure switch point, that shouldn't happen under normal circumstances unless the system is overcharged or it reaches a very high temperature !
The other thing that operates the fan is the waxstat in the bottom of the radiator and that only switches when the coolant temperature reaches 105 Centigrade, it drops out again at 100.
There are 2 switches on the compressor, one is normally closed and is an emergency overpressure (450 psi) switch which drops out the compressor clutch.
The other is normally open and operates the fan when the pressure gets to about 275 psi. this switch has never operated the fan on mine until I slightly overcharged it once on a very hot (27 C) day

been having a bit of a problem with this really hot weather, hot start syndrome so aftwr an eventfull visit to Maplins have fitted a relay into the starter system, the guy I spoke to at Maplins couldn't tell me what cable I needed cus"I'm not qualified to tell you sir" so went to my auto electrician and got some there, all good and starts fine when hot and beter when cold Another decision I have made is that it's going to have a respray over the winter because the laquer is lifting on the roof bonet and rear wing so going to do 1 panel at a time untill I have a grey lady, (like Rob did) then repaint next may june time, keeeping it green but with a little summit special, so watch this space

Had a great run to Billing, 2 33 mpg there and 32 home but was carrying auto box for black dippy when I came home Went in for MOT tuesday and passed with a few advises which are 3 metal brake pipes which I shall sort soon Bit of time to kill today so stripped all the front out, radiators etc, modified a 2ltr air con rad to fit get it gassed up now and hopefully be nice and chilled Also had a small oil leak from under front bumper which was auto fluid leaking from cooler in rad so as it has another one fitted(for towing) have bypassed rad one and it will now run on after market cooler Next job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! start on paint work
