I'm very impressed Chris - you are doing brilliantly with this. When is the big day when you paint it? Makes you realise that £300 per panel is not ridiculous after all. I shall be following this with great interest -

Thanks Matt, it's been very hard work and hope to paint in the next couple of weeks Smiley

I got a couple on the diplomat but if you are careful, they can be flatted out. I used a rubber block and 600 grit to remove the worst and then once flat, 1200 to smooth out then G3. How many coats did you use?

Awesome job! Looks great.

The runs should come out ok. I used a foam block and 1200 paper i think and they eventually came out, spose it will just take longer depending on how big they are.

Started with 800 on the bonnet and drivers side front wing and went through them both Sad
Used only 1200 down both sides and most have gone Smiley although I can see them if I look really hard, but decided it's better like that than rub through Wink
Put a good 3 coats on it Smiley
Turned out the spray gun wasn't set up right which is why I got so many runs Roll Eyes

I hate it when you go through!  But youll get it sorted in the end. and I know what you mean about the gun, i used loads of thinners trying to get the gun working properly and it was a constant battle to stop the paint drying up in the gun.

The car looks ace by the way can't wait to see some proper pics of it in a nice setting...

On American Hotrod (sky) they always use about 5 coats of clear and sand with a DA sander. I can never be sure of how uniformly I've painted the panels and presumably if it has run, paint has been taken from the nearby area. I think the other issue is that it seems the best effect is to spray a little dry and then it flows over a few minutes but even then, temperature plays a huge role in paint viscocity; the same method one day will be a disaster the next.  I think paint shops typically use 2 coats and then don't polish as dust is no issue.

You make we want to start work on the Viceroy again!
